Just ran across this article that says that the release date has been set to 2010 sometime.  Check it:

This is a quote from the official forum that was posted yesterday by Cryptic's Online Community Lead Awen:

I see a recurring theme here. The game has not been pushed back. We are still aiming for a Fall 2009 release. I hope that this quiets your fears.

The 2010 date came from Atari/Infogames and not from Cryptic. Obviously they are not accurate in their assessment of the release date. Cryptic is still saying Fall of 2009.

Would be nice if they didn't contradict each other.

Brief interview with Jack Emmert from Cryptic here.

Will the end product make up for the stress we had to endure?

    The due date:

I am going with....hell the communications needs to be cleaned up.

I am going to wait..... till they are both on the same page.

I wonder if Atari has plans that Cryptic doesn't know about yet...

Like Toadmonkey said, I'm gonna wait until I hear the same thing frm both of them before I start worrying about release date. 2009 hasn't started yet, so we still have a whole year for Cryptic to pull through on its "sometime in 2009" timeframe.

    -------------
The less you expect, the more you'll be surprised. Hopefully, pleasantly so.

    Star date 2010.

I'm currently orbiting the planet forum STO in the MMORPG.com system. It seems these are troubling times for the inhabitants. Scanners have picked up life forms known as trolls creating great imbalance to the peace of the planet. I've assembled an away team to head to the surface and engage these life forms, and to bring them back for further study dead or alive. As we come in peace, we shall restore peace to this planet....Kirk Out.

I'd put my money on sometime in 2010 WAY before I'd bet on fall 2009.

I'd rather they spend time on the game, rather then going for a rush release.

The fact that they are willing to extend the release date shows that they want the game to be the most pleasurable for their players.

    I say kudos to them!

Well Jack Emmert still said that it will come out in Fall '09, so I'm still looking forward to that :)

Another Shadowbane failure in the making?

I bet the graphics look so 07'ish in 10'?

Good luck there mate. Once you have phasered the lot (please set to kill), please warp over to the WAR forum and kill all the WoW trolls that are inhabiting the place.

I dont care as long they gate the game right and the content spot on and it attracts and holds the players. Look at Tabula Raza, going in January, Pirates of the Burning sea, dead in the water. The price for getting wrong is the end of the game and we have been waiting far too long for Star trek online.

Take as long as you like Cryptic, just make sure when you deliver that you have it spot on.

My only concern is Star Wars The Old republic, looks like it could be out about the same time.

If I said I wasn't hoping for a 2009 release I'd be lying so I wont go there. I'd be more than willing to wait as long as it takes if it meant a more stable and content rich game however. My only intention for my previous post was to let everyone know what Cryptic's official statement was on the release date after the Atari buyout. My own personal hoping for a game sooner than later had nothing to do with it.

    Wasn't a criticism...just a statement...and an expression of my antisapation/desire for a 2009 release.

No worries... I didn't take it as criticism anyways. Was just replying to a reply.

I wouldnt be worried about SW TOR its looking to be a glowbat love fest, majority of the game will be soloable, and train ride features....
