We live in interesting times; in fact CCP is the kind of company that if things get repetitive we instinctively crank it up a notch. That, we certainly have done this week. First of we have Incarna, an amazing technological and artistic achievement. A vision from years ago realized to a point that no one could have imaged but a few months ago. It rolls out without a hitch, is in some cases faster than what we had before, this is the pinnacle of professional achievement. For all the noise in the channel we should all stand proud, years from now this is what people will remember.
But we have done more, not only have we redefined the production quality one can apply to virtual worlds with the beautiful Incarna but we have also defined what it really means to make virtual reality more meaningful than real life when it comes to launching our new virtual goods currency, Aurum.
Naturally, we have caught the attention of the world. Only a few weeks ago we revealed more information about DUST 514 and now we have done it again by committing to our core purpose as a company by redefining assumptions. After 40 hours we have already sold 52 monocles, generating more revenue than any of the other items in the store.
This we have done after months of research by a group of highly competent professionals, soliciting input and perspective from thought leaders and experts in and around our industry. We have communicated our intention here internally in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our Fearless newsletter, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels. This should not come as a surprise to anyone.
Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change.
We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable. That is not saying nothing will change, on the contrary, in fact we know that success in this space is through learning and adapting to _what is actually happening_ and new knowledge gained in addition to what we knew before and expected.
All that said, I couldn’t be prouder of what we have accomplished as a company, changing the world is hard and we are doing it as so many times before! Stay the course, we have done this many times before.

In short: let the players rage over MT, they'll get used to them.
Link isn't loading for me, and this reeks of bullshit. NO ONE could be this arrogant. However, I agree with this:
"Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. He's absolutely right.
Watch what the players do, because what they say is charged with emotion and is thus unreliable. Watch as thousands either accept the change or cancel their subscriptions.
SHUT THE HELL UP AND SPEAK WITH YOUR WALLETS. You're just causing drama otherwise.
Theyre basing this all on the 52 monocles sold? LOL
That part did make me LOL. 52 monocles over 40 hours, record-breaking!
Theres allot of CCP employes that are shit scared atm.. hence the leaks..
Damn I was just about to post it.
My opinion on weather or not that email is real? yeah I do not see anything surprising or unbelievable in that email.
As for speaking with our wallets, already done. However I would like to note that SWG lived for years after the NGE which, while I wasn't there to experience it seems far worse than what CCP is doing. I may have spoken with my wallet but my accounts don't run out until early next year (was going yearly subscription), subscription drops don't happen overnight.
I don't think eve will be dead in 6 months or a year. I do think eve will drop significantly in the next couple of years, I think our gradual rise is going to stay broken. Thought I do admit I could be wrong, a lot of players aren't gonna rage quit over this and some new players will come.
Into the breach meatbags
Wow, sounds a lot like a certain Mr. John Smedly right after the NGE was implemented... I wonder how that worked out for him?

I'd be fucking scared too.
Yep in the end that's all that matters.

If EVE-O losses a large chunk of their subs then CCP is finished.
Yeah, I get a 404 error, and I also have a bit of a hard time believing someone could be that arrogant. Though if it was internal and not expected to leak maybe, and after reading some of the CCP responses on the forums, well lets just say I would have been less likely to believe this claim before reading their responses on the forums.
We'll have to wait and see. This is the predicted, initial resistance to change. I'm going to copy and paste my thoughts from another thread because I find this whole situation sad (and not in a pathetic way) more than anything else:
"What's most saddening to me is the fact that, just a couple of months ago, the idea of Incarna was one of eager anticipation and delight. Finally, the ability to walk in stations! To get out of your pod! To interact with your fellow pilots! The implementation now, being restricted only to the Captains Quarters, is pretty underwhelming, though I think it's a good first step. However, combined with the "Swallow-But-Dislike" at best and "****-YOU-CCP!" at worst addition of the Noble Exchange, it's nothing close to what people expected. As always, it's mostly the fault of the players overhyping themselves and expecting Incarna to be this amazing addition, but CCP is not blameless.
To be perfectly honest, if CCP had done two things before implementing Incarna, the feedback would've been much more positive:
1. Made it optional. Something so simple, you'd think they'd put it in without hesitation, right? Well... believe it or not, there are some pilots who like the way hangars work now and couldn't give a rat's behind about the station beyond or what it has to offer. "Getting out and stretching your legs" implies the option to stay in your pod, right?
2. Implemented the Noble Exchange separately. This is where the other 90% of the criticism and rage is coming from, not just because of the idea of Microtransactions themselves, but also because of the ridiculous real world costs."
I think the game will definitely see a decline in subs, but it won't die. CCP is still making plenty of changes to old code and setting the stage for new updates that may be beneficial; we'll have to wait and see.

...very frustrating to read
This mail is both hilarious realsatire and plausible enough to be real.
Gonna wait for confirmation before raging properly though.
Added your link.
Wouldn't it be nice if subs dropped enough so that they had to cancel DUST and WoD? I mean, in a fiendishly delightful sort of way.
IF i hear this compared to the NGE one more time.... utter bull crap.
are you guys taking leave of your brains?
what company has EVER paid attention to it's player base MORE than CCP?
consider the SOURCE and stop acting like sheep.
Okay.
I'll give my two reasons why I think this is a hoax:
1) The email wouldn't be in English, and nothing indicates its translated. Where is the original?
2) No CEO is insane enough to tell his employees they changed the world many times by making a moderately successful MMO.
It's not mine. Just listening to Eve-Radio, like you I assume.
Wish they would of let the Eve24 guy on the air. Wonder what he had to say.
CCP needs a reality check and a major change in direction and business philosophy. That means suspending DUST and WoD until EVE is generating expected revenue.
What are some words/phrases associated with CCP right now? Arrogance, Unprofessionalism, Denial, Out-of-Touch, Deception... when you think of what CCP used to stand for - Passion, Straightforwardness, Humility - it's a frightening transformation.
Honestly I don't know. But they said it's the same source as the other thing that got out.
Really sad if this is true.
its eve news 24....biggest sensationalist site ever. I dont take anything leaked on that site seriously....
Maybe all of that was a fake image created by the PR team, and now has shattered.
Believe me when I say that CCP wasn't always like that. This is relatively recent.
Humility however was never their strong point. Passion definitely; an infectious passion even.
