Yeah I'm curious about this, because it's the same every year. Conan, Warhammer, Aion, ToR, Rift, Diablo 3, etc.
It's like everyone is bored of whatever they're playing and they wish so hard for a new game to end their boredom that they just exercise an irrational hype towards a game that ends up dying out in 1-3 months. Not to say the games per se fail, as they usually have a good number of sales and/or subscriptions, but then suddenly the game wasn't so good and everyone's getting hyped about the next thing.
So, since I'm getting a bit weary of seeing so much pointless overhyping about GW2, and that's making me feel like not playing it at all, I'm going to ask:
What game are you looking forward to getting overhyped after GW2?
Comments
You forgot SWTOR.

Didn't!
Though I called it "ToR".
oh no OP.. prepare to get flamed..
GW2 = Jesus 2
as for the next over hyped game.. well probally Archeage.. the hype train has already started on that one..
Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
people like you are the ones that mentioned GW2 and Jesus. people like you that for some reason play a game that failed need to see some disaster coming on another game that is having great feedback so you can live happy...
never see any GW2 player saying GW2 is perfect, for some reason people give lot of suggestion on official forum, but people like just like continues say we think game is perfect.
GW2 fail? for you what fail meaning? how you will measure that?
(for some reason i know i will not get any serious response...)
what i like see is people say SWTOR and many other big MMORPG lauch failed so GW2 will gonna fail too. what they forget to say is those big MMORPG are all based on WoW, something GW2 is completed diferent so maybe GW2 have a chance and will not fail, just MAYBE.
Don't forget Blade n Soul. (P2P)
Well, fail as people claim that Aion or SWTOR failed. Some even say that Diablo 3 failed. And GW2 won't sell as many copies as Diablo 3, not even by far. I do not think selling a few million copies is failing, but you get what I mean.
Didn't!
Though I called it "ToR".
More recognizable as SWTOR.

I can't say I'm hyped about GW2. Slightly interested in the WvW.
Anyways, my next MMO Jesus to save me from the pits of boredom will be that one where you plug your brain directly into the game and view the game world through your actual eyes and it reacts off your thoughts, so if you think you're swinging a sword, that's what you do in game. And if you die in the game, the game reads your mind to find out what your personal paradise would be like and places you there. GON BE SO EPIC!
I knew that all the games before were going to fail (except Conan, but they lied to our faces, so it was impossible to see the fail) and noone ever listened on these forums...
But Im pretty sure GW2 wont fail at all
Lets see in six months
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
I'm not hyped about GW2 - but I'll probably start getting hyped about ArcheAge once it's set for a EU release - and it gets closer.
It seems to me that a LOT of the hype surrounding GW2 is because "it's not a WoW clone" -as if that in itself made the game great.
I mean, we ALL want a fresh take on the genre - but just because you step away from that tired themepark formula, it does not mean the end result is particularly great.
I'll give GW2 a shot - but there's really no telling how it will fare in the long-term. The short-term stuff is great - but the genre was never about the short-term. Not for me, anway.
I think a lot of people are setting themselves up to be disappointed and bitter. Then the cycle continues. It's the way of things.
hahaha affected at all ?
At no point did I actually say it would fail.. what i did was link the hype around religions and the hype around GW2.. is that a bad thing? make up your own mind..
Now really i dont care if GW2 lives or dies... i dont like the game myself but im not big into themepark games anyway..
[Reaper]It's inevitable. The cycle must continue.[/Reaper]
so if selling a few million copies isn't failing we can just sit back and let time prove your thread inaccurate and pointless. i'm willing to do that. cya then!
Is there PvP in Archeage or is it just a mini game like in WoW?
If GW2 should somehow fail, I have no future games in my sight, Games nowadays seems to be of low standard anyway.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
but you play TSW (you will even resub) and say is a great game.
post history, someone think it dont exist on this forum....
Well most mmos were already considered fail during the betas.
GW2 on the other hand, had many full servers for all their BWEs as well as stress tests. And its b2p.
Its harder to fail for this 1.
>don't mind me, just being the 5th post since 2004.
How the hell would you even measure "failure" for GW2?
The only way I can see GW2 failing is if it doesn't get enough people buying it (highly unlikely considering the hype). Or if no one spends a single dollar in the gem store (also unlikely since people have proven that they are willing to pay for collectible shit and boosts).
Anyways, to answer your question: I'm looking forward to several MMOs such as Planetside II and ArcheAge, but I haven't been overly hyped about a MMO since SWG so I guess my answer doesn't really count.
That being said, i have not been able to achieve a feeling of long term immersion into a game since the old swg days. I'm looking forward to the repopulation or archeage to perhaps fulfill that. But that is only a hope at this point.
