I spent the day running to blue circles and smacking things with a stick, over and over to level 40 glory!!
I also spent that time dying surrounded by other players with no rezzes.
MMO's have gone backwards a bit in this regards, in terms of FATE's and the way ppl treat one another BUT, a lot has to do with the rinse and repeat instant gratification crap that came along with MMO's going mainstream. Why rez someone when they can just release and come back in 5 seconds? There is very little penalty for death, so why rez a comrade who died right next to you? (during and after fights, corpses just don't get rezzed) Better to just summon your mount, ride over them, so you can wait in town for the next FATE right? Most of the times I see ppl left for dead, there isn't even another FATE active, ppl just ride right over corpses. Don't get me started on heals, and don't say its about a team etc. I played DAOC for years, and ppl routinely rezzed anyone in sight in pvp and pve, regardless of team.
But in that game, if you released you lost a ton of exp and had a long way to run back, but here there is no penalty, SO, I think the devs should have more IN DEPTH & Complex multi step FATES. There are some multi steppers, but most are just one and done, so no one cares if their realm mate, regardless of being grouped, dies, cuz the FATES are over in 1-1.5 minutes. Hell if you get there at 14:05, your 30 seconds too late and its over.
So, make FATES multi step and make them last longer. Give exp or something for rezzing ppl. Make death have a bigger penalty.
Other than the FATE stuff though, this game is cool and im flying through it, FATEs + storyline. Probably going to do cooking once I ding 50
Sidenote: People in pre-wow MMO's used to even ask their group mates, "oh hey this guy needs a rez can you come to me?" so non rezzers would help out too.

Just forget it, OP. The old days are gone, welcome to the brave new world of "highly social" MMO's where you "do everything in a group with other players".
Well, actually you solo, but you do it packed together tightly with a bunch of other players. It's "grouping without the hassle". You don't care what they do or when they do it, all that matters is the reward at the end. There's no co-ordination, no planning and no team work. Just spam DPS and try not to die.
And if you do die, don't wait for someone to rez you, it will be quicker to respawn and return to the fight. Nobody will rez you anyway, because it slows them down, gives no reward and is simply not optimal levelling efficiency. After all, if they waste time rezzing you, they won't be able to reach level cap before the end of Early Access...
I have to agree, I die in games and even ask for rez and no one responds even if they are right by me. Don't get me wrong, people do from time to time but i've noticed it happens more in a game like GW2 where you get exp. for rezzing someone. I always rez people if i'm in the area or just running by a dead player. I treat others as i want to be treated, so i know i would want a rez if i died so i always rez others.
I miss the days when things were challenging and you died a lot if you weren't grouped up with at least one other person. Nowadays, if you die you respawn and run for 30 sec. and that's it. There needs to be more penalties and/or rewards for dying or rezzing someone. The main thing to me is that if games were more challenging people would have to group more and rez each other. I hated dying in EQ, it took forever to get back to your corpse and the penalties blew too. Everything is just too cookie cutter these days.
Lets be fair, FFARR is really way too much of the same nonsense. Big walls of text and spending hours on end playing gofer boy. Fetch me this and fetch me that. Kill 5 this, pick up 10 of that. Give this letter to this guy, then give it to that guy.
It's the most on the rails, typical rehashed garbage I've seen yet.
It adds insult to injury when the game is an MMORPG, but every few quests I have to drop group to do a solo instance dungeon to further my mandatory "save the world quest", then I rejoin my group so we can continue doing solo content in a group. Because we all know putting group level difficulty mobs in an MMORPG is too much to ask for from these games.
You want "team work" and "cooperation"? How about you play an MMORPG that actually has group content, instead of an overload of solo-fetch quests to level 50.
This game is your typical Tera / Aion / Blade N Soul asian themepark. I don't know why you expected something different.
Legends of Kesmai, UO, EQ, AO, DAoC, AC, SB, RO, SWG, EVE, EQ2, CoH, GW, VG:SOH, WAR, Aion, DF, CO, MO, DN, Tera, SWTOR, RO2, DP, GW2, PS2, BnS, NW, FF:XIV, ESO, EQ:NL
You know that if you have a group that wants to do group content here is what you do:
you ignore inefficient quests
You coordinate the crafting among you.
You use/abuse chain mechanic of party play.
You focus on becoming the first group in your world to take down fates.
On rails? I stopped what I was doing at level 12 and ran to another area to start unlocking new jobs. I wasn't made to do it, just wanted to so I could ave new skills to use with my favorite job. I did quest not related to the main story as I leveled new classes and then went back to my main job to do some levequest. I then got with some friends and did some group content. Yea... It's terribly on rails............................ I wish I had he choice to do what I want.......................................
I now have a character with a nice mixed bag of skill combinations unlike other players around me playing in whatever areas I want as I've been all over the map. This doesn't effect my main story quest as my level will be synced upon doing those. Man... If only I had a bit more freedom...
However, I don't think you have actually played this game. There is a difficulty slider on levequest to adjust to the size of your group. Did you just come here to complain?
A better world starts with yourself.
No excuses.
I group all the time, be it my guild brothers or some guy i never spoke to, only time i realy play solo is if i dont have much time and want to burn in a quicky ^^
Seriously make an effort or join a decent guild with social people and a whole new world opens up to you.
If you focus on playing with others they remember you, if your a nice guy you end up on the friend list, the longer you playthis way the more friends you have in the long run.
its not hard
I've gotta agree with the last few posters; there's plenty of opportunity and incentive to group up in ARR and more interesting ways to level than just charging solo into FATEs. On Midgardsrmr there are always people calling out coords for rezzes needed and plenty of people willing to oblige as well. Besides, the loading screen says Final Fantasy . You're going to get a meaty linear story with lots of cutscenes and drama interspersed with cute comic relief, summons and other very familiar trappings.
One strength of the game that I see so far is that you don't have to play it directly from A-Z unless you choose to and you don't have to level in the same proscribed way the entire time. You're free to work on other classes, progress your crafting/gathering, and improve your GC standing pretty much however you'd like. It's definitely a game that dumps more and more options on you as you get past the first few hours and even if I can't say how it'll turn out in a few months' time, I find it refreshing right now.
IKR? This game is the most OFF the rails theme park I have yet played. I haven't picked up a single quest outside of my main story line from the moment I got access to air travel. I have actually had to slow down my main class leveling so I can get caught up with my crafting. Everytime I see someone use the term "WoW Clone" (or some similar reference) I instantly know they have no clue what they are talking about.
Probably a Thm spamming AOEs without a care in the world.
+ make friends.
It's amazing how many perils and frustrations of the soloer (even the soloer-in-groups) can be entirely avoided.
I dunno...I'm a scholar and I've solo'd clear up toe 38 and there's no sign of it stopping any time soon (naturally, I partied for dungeons). Of course, I'm a healer too so the whole part where its near impossible to die in the open world helps.
I guess I kill slower than most everyone else though....
Game seems rather easy to solo until you are forced to level solely through dungeons or FATES.
Still new at this so forgive me if I am wrong but only certain classes have rez right?
I disagree about community because I have had people heal me out in the world, I am sure they would have rezzed me too. I think the fate's just have that "got to get mine" mentality, it isa frenzy. Personally they are misplaced in this game, in a game like GW2 where you auto-group in a way during dynamic events, in Fates you are all solo. If anyone could rez I think they would. Look at games like GW2, if you die you will have people rushing to rez you because they can.
People need to be allowed to raise without having to swap in raise, wait out that stupid cooldown on everything before you can cast, then cast raise, then swap it out and have to wait on the stupid cooldown again to continue playing.
This is annoying enough that I don't raise random people at all, only when people directly ask me.
Don't know why I'm even responding to this...
I've not run into your issues, perhaps you should try...........you know.......talking to people?
I've had no issue grouping up to do fates or sometimes quests/leves if I need the help. Often end up friending people as a result. If I die in a fate, though rare (I'm a healer), I get rezzed by someone. I see in chat from time to time Please raise - 20,13. And people will come and toss a raise. Or you could actually try setting your home point in the zone instead of being lazy. Even then you can instantly travel right back to the zone, so I fail to get the issue.
It really sounds like people just want reason to complain. Try asking for a group and working with those people, try asking for a raise(or move out of the aoe?), try setting your damn home point, try getting past lvl 15 to where rezzes are more common for people to have and cross talent.
I feel MMOs aren't social these days because people seem to have developed this mindset where they don't want to make the effort to talk to each other anymore. But it's the games fault.
As for themepark - yea, it's a themepark. Yet I find myself really enjoying that game. I haven't been able to commit to anything these days. Tried Lotro, DD, Rift, Aion, Tera, GW2, and countless others. Not even max level in most of them, with GW2 exception.
The story quest line helps to familiarize new players with the game, and unlocks content. There actually are new players due to the cross-platform thing. If you get tired of doing it, take a break, que an instance, do some fates with a party, go do some profession stuff, do the hunting log, try up a different class to mix it up.
Or just post here about how much the game sucks.
Immediately upon login: 50 players on mounts blowing by me to roll a FATE within the first 45 seconds of its existence which is by far the most efficient way to level. So the point of this post is, chasing blue/purple circles and whacking things with sticks, is this game's most effective way to play. Can't argue that point.
And I like the game! This is from someone who is going to sub!
The rez part of this post was just a comment about MMO culture. In the past you didn't have to ask or yell or shout or you didn't turn off shout or yell channels. You saw a corpse, you rezzed it. You saw someone shouting for a rez, you rez them. You message someone asking politely for rez, they rez you. But in this game everyone wants to get to the next circle and beat down that mob or w/e. No strategy, no nothing.
Yes you can group during these, but your still hauling you know what from one circle to the other whaling on some mob for 30-45 SECONDS!!!!! and you are rewarded with heaps and heaps of EXP that by far blast any other form of exping! You don't call this a flaw in the game!!!
I like the game and will sub, but this is a huge flaw in the game! how can you defend this???? What a world of extreme's, on one side you got people who believe the game can do no wrong, and another that bashes everything. Why not make a subjective report/opinion on parts of the game you like and don't like instead of bashing or defending 100% of it. It's a game, and some things are going to be really really fun and interesting and good ideas, and other parts will be obviously stupid and should be nerfed and removed. That's the way of MMO gaming. So don't defend something or a way of culture that is clearly a step back.
EDIT: and even group mates will leave you cuz they need their next FATE circle exp more than trying to find a rez for someone that will cause them to miss their FATE
Ah, there's your issue? Maximum efficiency?
Let them roll past, applaud their awesomeness, and go back to enjoying yourself.
You're looking (we assume) at the locusts who blow right through the content of every game in minimum possible time, so they can return to complaining about "nothing to do" ASAP.
In a week, you'll never see them again.
I think you need to get a decent guild.
and one where you do research on the guild.
I've seen too many people join guilds that are just about spamming invites and getting "numberz". Get into a good guild with good people who make it a point to support their members.
Like any relationship in life it takes some time and effort but it can be done.

I haven't played this game but I just thought it was funny. Now we get a new game, looks pretty good, not hearing to much bitching about it other than 1000's trying to get in and can't, but not getting a rez from people that are around them? is that all you have here?. Just made me lol.

OP is whats wrong with gaming and mmorpgs.
Ignores all but the in your face content. Chooses to repeatedly do that since it requires little to no reading.
Dies multiple times (cant read so doesn't know difficulty level)
Complains about death not giving him XP and some gold, also complains about the walk back from his bind point...a bind point that he could have changed to a closer location if only he was able to read.
Then feels the need to be vocal about said "issues"
