I think I was A/A's biggest fan boy........The game was gonna be tough for us PVE'ers.....but still fun!
With the new patch they have effectively destroyed the game for the PVE crowd.......No reason for us to stay here....
Why would any PVE'er hang around with the current scheme?
And who will the wolves now have to gank?
Grats to the PVP crowd.....You now have YOUR game.......
Enjoy!

Whats different?
They added a max level non-PVP zone with a new dungeon type thing in it.. But aside from that I haven't really noticed any big changes to how PVE works.
Woohoo! See ya!
I'm even more excited now that it sounds like a PvPer's game so much that the PvEer's are leaving.
also excited !!! PvE 'ers can still play single player "mmo's" like elder scrolls
Its just not that dramatic.
PVE was nerfed so hard that i've stayed up all night two nights in a row doing nothing but PVE. And I hadn't done PVE in this game in a month.
Well theres a shed load of PVE games out there and a very small amount of PVP games. So Im happy the PVPers got another game to play.
To me a PvP game should offer a bit more than being unattractive to PvE players. I highly doubt the combat system of AA is any fun at all, but I will take a look and see for myself when it comes out.
It takes one to know one.
A/A is a VERY fun game to play.....but with the now 80/20 split and crafting requiring mats that come from the PVP side continent...there's just no reason for a pve'er to play.
I truly can't wait now (absent further changes) for all you pvp'ers to start crying about the lack of sheep.
As in a previous comment......no other true PVP game has survived well much past release.
The sad truth is that while not ALL pvp'ers are gankers.....most are! They really do not desire a fair fight.....they just wanna pick on the sheep.......
I don't understand why Trion simply does not offer a PVE server. Yea, I've read all the comments that this is a PVP based game. Truth is.......it does not have to be!
Let us care bears wander around gathering and crafting to our hearts content without being picked on by the folks that got to max level on release day!
Why not let the market decide? Just see where the majority of players land.
It really is a great game..........Except for the gankers who do nothing but live for the thrill of killing players far below their level...
I just don't understand........it's akin to playing any game and killing grey mobs.....wheres the skill in THAT?
Or.....limit PVP to a toon your level or higher.......such simple fixes.............and yet.....
First off I have to say that I am not following AA's progress so dunno whats changed and how in details.
I just wanted to say that if there are mats only obtained in PvP areas. Why not buy mats from people who usually do PvP that might grab some when they can? I guess there will be, since they know that PvE players want the mats. I guess there's a market system atleast.
Because allowing players to essentially print money freely by running cross continental trade runs with no risk whatsoever to their goods would wreck both the economy and most of the fun the game offers.
A game where money is so very important that allows you to have all the money you want just isnt very fun. This would be almost as bad as a button you just click that deposits 100g into your wallet.
I get that you don't want to ever have the risk of being in a pvp situation, but ya i'm afraid Archeage is one of those games where the PVE and PVP are integrated.
You could just not do those runs and buy the mats from people who don't have such an aversion to going out on the seas, but in the end it sounds like if you're going to get upset at the mere possibility of being involved in pvp -- this game is never going to be your thing.
I have to add. I don't feel the game is in error. I feel your aversion is very extreme.
Without PvEers the PvPers have no victims to grind success and as soon they find out the crowd left will bite back the PvP Death Spiral beginns and another mmo is destroyed bcs Wolves do not want eat Wolves in the long run.

Agree. As soon as it is realized this is another ganking game, you will see players leaving.
A PvP centric game is great. I like both PvP and PvE. I prefer PvP about 75% of the time. I don't need "sheep" to kill, I don't find that fun. Having said that I can see how this altered course (even if slight) is bad for the game. I played both Darkfall games and Mortal Online and when all that is left to do is combat you start to thin out. You end up with a player base that is a little "nastier" and for some reason you end up with more hacks and exploiters - or at least more visible.
I think the game offered a lot of PvP, but taking away PvE as a play option seems like a bad move from a numbers perspective. . which just leaves one crowd and the whining ensues leading to more changes that drive more people away etc .etc.
If you can still play PvE but need to interact with PvP players or go into PvP areas at times to make/get the "good stuff" then I don't see a problem there.
Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
I'm befuddled by the need to announce leaving a game that from the day of it's announcement had said that pvp and risk was an essential element to the economic engine of the game. everyone wants pc correct non gank online and when they get it thety leave those games in droves. archeage has a very fine balance between pvp and pve that works it works in crafting exploring building and travel. people who don't understand the mechanics and how to utilize or exploit them have no one to blame but themselves. trion took the lead in keeps the game the sandbox the original devs promised by weeding out the game breaking pve gimping that patch 1.0 introduced to the game internationally. frankly I would be happy to see the game expand on the only element I see needing additions and expansion and that is housing...more house options, cutom blueprints, actual town building. other than that the game is epically perfect.
so say we all
That is indeed the problem with almost any PvP MMO. On one hand MMOers like to rise in power as they play but that makes most open world PvP combat rather boring and one sided no matter if you are the ganker or the one being ganked.
The question is as usual how you should solve it in a fun way. If you lower the gap seriously you are upsetting the powergamers and the same happens when you let people level up or down (GW2 got a lot of crap for using that mechanics).
Every single great PvP moment I had in any MMO is against an opponent at equal powerlevel or better and I think most gamers at least feel the same. That is why PvP MMOs are having so few players compared to PvE games.
Adding loads of safe zones solve however nothing at all and is the wrong way to make the game fun. AA do have some really fun parts and it is sad that they went for a so traditional powergap as it did. I don't want safe zones, I want good PvP and the problem both in this game and others are that the good fights are too far in between.
There is a good reason why FPS game have such huge percentage of PvPers while MMOs have so few. Adding more safe zones wont affect that at all.
Great post Loke.......If everyone shared your philosophy there would be no need for any of these silly threads.....
I can surely appreciate that there is a percentage of folks that love PVP. And amen to them! I like vanilla, wify likes chocolate. I don't force her to eat mine or go without.
I just would like to see the PVP'ers share some of the risks I face. They lose.....nothing of value lost by them.
How bout if they gank me and my trade pack auto completes and they lost 5 gold to me for the gank? If they have no gold....I get to pick a piece of their equipment? Sound fair?
About as fair as a level 50 whacking me at level 32 methinks........
there's a very successful MMO that has been running for a decade where all the good crafting loots are in the part of the world where there is open PVP. People who like the risk go in and collect the materials then sell them for a profit in safer areas... people who dont want to leave the safer areas simply buy them from the market.
now I'm not in alpha (i bought the 50$ pack) so I dont know whether the markets in AA allow this. but if they do then the game will be absolutely fine for not only pve and pvp people, but also folks like me who like both.

Athough I know that AA is not a full-fledged Sandbox, I still dont understand why every sandbox game that has come out recently has no option for a PVE only world.
the "It's our game" and "We finally get a PVP game" quotes are annoying especially considering that there are MANY "care-bears" (me included) who are dying for a sandbox game that will cater to the PVE crowd without forcing PVP down out throats.
If I wanted to PVP, I'd go play Battlefield with all the 13 year olds on an XBOX....
in some games, the economy needs for there to be PVP... there needs to be a way that "stuff breaks" so that there's constant need for more stuff for the crafters to make... otherwise everything becomes devoid of value. Again I dont play AA yet because i didnt pay the 150, but maybe the way the game's economy functions requires pvp. Something like an item decay system would be a decent workaround for a pve version but maybe not.

Can you elaborate please? I play on Alpha and Omega. On Omega launch day, I felt like I had logged into a completely different game than what I had been playing. I am still undecided if pre-patch was a better game or not, and your insight would be appreciated as I just do not see how the patch destroyed the game for PVE. It has changed my game play style. I am having to learn to play my characters differently now as skills are not the same. However, if I had never played on Alpha I would think this is a good PVE game to play. Why will the PVE crowd leave? Thanks!
about time -- I cant wait !!
there is no shortage of PvE games for players like you...pick one and enjoy !! the PvP crowd looks like they are getting a good one (finally) !!
You can't leave a game you don't play.
OP just wanted to rant that AA doesn't have a pve only server.
What do you mean another ganking game? There hasn't been an open pvp game like this for years.
Take a wild guess why.
