A couple of questions

F2Pelerin118F2Pelerin118 Member UncommonPosts: 124

Hello, I have a couple of questions about the game:

1. What system does AA use for player roles when grouping, is it the usual Trinity setup or something different?

2. How many and what sort of dungeons does the game have?

I ask because I'm a big fan of both traditional tanking and dungeon crawling, I understand this game has plenty of sandbox and PvP features - but I'm more interested in the PvE side of things.

Actually, one more question:

3. How is the questing in the game? (I have no problem with the normal kill and collect style of questing)

There's been much buzz for this game over the last year or so and I don't actually know too much about it, but I did grab a beta key for the upcoming test - so that should be fun.

Thanks.

Trinity works well. You need people to take a hit and people to heal and people to crowd control and people to do damage.

    2. How many and what sort of dungeons does the game have?

There are about 12 and they are similar to WoW or EQ with trash mobs and several boss encounters you need to learn. Some dungeons are much easier than others and many are fun.

You probably enjoy this part of ArcheAge. It is not new or groundbreaking. Just tab target and fun times with friends with some good loot along the way.

There is alot of quest hub questing in the game that is not overly sophisticated. There are a few quests that are imaginative. It is not the main focus of the game though and I think the main storyline ends around level 30. Some people have found it a blast while others have found it to be distracting and not done to standards they enjoy.

Good luck and have fun with it. It's not for everyone and just remember that you can get off of the quest side of it around level 15 and start doing the other content just fine. Alot of players are not aware of this or do not like having the core content focus  flipped on them part way thru the game. Just think of the questing as a big tutorial that helps you learn combos and farming and glider and other important things along the way.

    Thanks.

Awesome, thanks for the info! Sounds good.

Though I've thought of another quick question:

    4. What's the loot like, does it use the usual tiers like green, blue, yellow etc. and are there set items or anything like that?

I'm quite looking forward to the game, it only dawned on me recently that it will be F2P which is cool - especially since (AFAIK) Trion are implementing a Subscription option similar to RIFT which I will happily pay.

I'm interested to try out and see what all the Sandbox and PvP features are about, I just thought I'd try and get come clarification surrounding the PvE since I know it's my preferred content - so I really appreciate the info.

    Thanks.

Honestly the questing is quite enjoyable. Just don't be a content whore and you will absolutely love archeage. Everytime I get to a quest hub there is a ton of land surrounding it that I like to explore, and look for illegal farms. The crafting is fun, farming is somehow really fun... not sure about this I hate things like farming in game and housing but I really enjoy it in AA. PVP i haven't done much of yet so I can't say.

There are 12 gear tiers !!!

    Poor
    Common
    Uncommon
    Rare
    Ancient
    Heroic
    Unique
    Artifact
    Wonder
    Epic
    Legendary
    Mythic

Many gear sets to choose from for tons of playstyles.
And every set can be handcrafted !!!

If you are looking at archeage from a pve raiders PoV youa re going te get disapointed.
There are dungeons but the essence of Archeage is 23 professions / pvp / tradepack running / farming.

And don't forget that you soon can combine Legendary and Mythic grade weapons to create the ultimate weapon image

People should tell you that if your goal is only to do PVE you will get short. I don't even waste time in the dungeons for PVE, I like good PVE and in AA it sucks really hard, even the devs said so. But they will try to make it better with future patches.

If you don't mind doing some shitty dungeon with poor mechanics then feel free to test it, the only thing interesting i saw to date in AA for PVE are both dungeons in Library, those looks interesting.

And personally I don't consider farming and crafting a form of PVE.

You should stick with the game you like most for PVE and play AA for PVP but that's only my opinion so...

Love the game but I would not play it for PvE or the quests.

I am bored with being the lead character in a interactive movie, my interest in that peaked about the time of  LoTRO.Go play a game like LoTRO, SWTOR or Elder scrolls if that is what you want. They all do the interactive movie thing really well.

I like AA because it put the RPG back in MMORPG., not for a buch of tired old pre scripted dungeons and raids. I am just bored of the click option 1, 2, or3 the hearing some voice actor recite the script for that choice. It was novel back in the days of LoTRO but that was then. Both SWTOR and ESO online bored me to tears using that mechanic as their game core.  I am back to where want a game that really gives me endless choices on how to develop my character.

    I miss DAoC

I really wouldn't play this game if my prime focus was the PVE content (quests and raids). The content in that area is nothing special and not extensive in scope. It is not really the focus of the game.

Of course, if you wait until after launch, you can just play it for free to get a feel for what's on offer.

Archeage is not a standart mmorpg compared to all AAA releases in last years.

Im guess that your questions are based in other mmorpgs experiences and in Archeage talking about pvp or pve is not that linear, you really need to "feel" the game and see if you like it.

When someone say "if you only want pve you will be bored" it not that simple because this game is a rich and complex group of features.

There will be players that will be happy only focus on sport fishing for example. This is the 1st game i really like fishing, sport fising ofc.

Op have a key for cb2, so can try it and have the inicial feeling of the game.

    Have fun.
