A new game are released and these are the things that will will pop up no matter how good the game is, it can be a godsend in gaming yet people are never satisfied.

1: Poor graphic ( in reality it has great graphic but they cant understand the difference between graphic and artstyle )
2:My toon don't move or behave as i like ( In reality they used motion capture for main)
3: To much content ( never understood this whining)
4: To much grinding, ( You don't know what grinds means)
5: It's on rails/It's not on rail ( play for fun or need a crutch for help?)

There are so many things a game can have yet there are so many whiners, I feel sorry for gaming studios.

I may complain about lack of innovative mmorpgs, but the variety of other games to play is awesome

Idk, I've been gaming since the early 1980s and I think we're in the best period of gaming I've ever seen.

Mainstream gaming generally sucks (its been dumbed down and invaded by the very people who used to call us nerds for being gamers) but even in the mainstream there are gems every now and again- But the indie scene is booming with complex and fantastic games.

There are more choices now than ever and with services like GOG and emulators we have acess to pretty much everything thats ever been.

MMORPG's as we knew them are dead though- And probably wont come back.

I think gaming would be better if I wasn't as bored as easy.  I haven't seen and played so much.  I also don't have as good reflexes or passion like I used too.

    The Witcher 3
    Monster Hunter World
    Red Dead Redemption 2
    God of War
    Warframe
    Fortnite
Black Ops 4 (people seem to be happy with the game if not the cash shop)

These are just some of the "big" games that people generally seem to be happy with. If a company makes a good game, people will like it. That list is not to mention all the smaller games on Steam with overwhelmingly positive reviews. Gamers (people) are just calling out shitty things they don't like and appreciating games that are good.

Also, didn't we learn a long time ago when we were doing true/false tests to red flag statements with "always" and "never"?

I call bullshit. There are a ton of bad games out that deserve everything they get. Just because a couple of people complain about a good game does not mean "gamers are never happy". When you have a good game the vast majority are happy with it and you will get a few that think it sucks, so what? If it sucks you will get a lot complaining about it sucking. So what? You like a game that sucks? Go play it and ignore people who don't like it. So what?

    Not even thread-worthy bro.

There are always bad reviews, doesn't matter what game it is.

But the difference is some games have overwhelming amount of bad reviews compare to good one.

    LOLZ

Godsend? You mean Diablo Immortal or Fallout 76? Examples, please!

This is amazing - kid complaining that other kids complaing too much. (Seriously, do you really have to say that stupid word "whining", that every kid use these days and thinks that it makes him smart?)

    1. First of all i never understand what "graphics" means, i always call it visual style. But isnt it developer shout all the time: "This is our new game with amazing super awesome GRAPHICS."?
Also new games have really low res textures, plus new lighting makes them look even worse. Then optimization. It just dosent exist. ( For graphics presets comparison check out Dark souls 3 video.)

2.Movement is actually different in every game, so... Maybe person get use to play other game, and now he cant figure it out how to play this one. (I use to play GW2- i liked it. Now i play TESO and combat pisses me off, because everything is based on character animations. Movement, attacks - you cant interrupt it. Your char have to finish first LONG skill animation before it can start another one, even if you press skill button.)
(You can check The secret world - alot of people didnt like combat and Risen 2 - jumping animation is hilarious.)

    3. Some people like short games. About 10 hours to finish story. You can find some people on reddit were looking for short games. Also the longer the game, the more repetitive content it has. Plus some people dont have much time to play. So if the game 50+hrs long it will may take them months to finish it.

    4. LOLZ
You apparently too, otherwise you would explained. People call it "grind" when they have to kill alot (same) enemies or do same quest over and over in order to progress further. At first when i played f2p games i thought its f2p feature, but apparently its not. (Gw2 did amaizing job with events and fast leveling).
Its only made to make hardcore players to stay in MMO, till devs release new content. But its really boring for others.
Sigleplayer games also have this feature these days. Thats because devs are lazy and have no more ideas, but want more money. (I think Assassin's creed odyssey have exp boost mAcrotrasaction).

Why you so angry?  "play for fun or need a crutch for help?" No, i dont but theres big guy next to me, why dont you go out and ask him?  Seriously, thats how kids like to argue online.
(You do realise that some people may find this really offensive, because they actually using it?)

    5. Well, its booring and stupid to play game that decides everything for you. But still keep asking you pointless questions. Thats why i liked to play rpgs, but unfortunately theres no rpgs anymore. But speaking of fun. It also not fun anymore to play. Last game that i liked was Marvel heroes omega.

"There are so many things a game can have yet there are so many whiners, I feel sorry for gaming studios."
LOLZ And they dont even know that you are exist.
Go buy their games, dont forget to spend thousands...maybe, just maybe then they will say something nice to you, something like...

THATS NOT ENOUGH! WE NEED MORE!

Perhaps the issue is that different gamers want different things in games?  Thus, different games may make different gamers happy, but no single game can make everyone happy.

So...your solution was to whine about the whiners...good one.

No title will appeal to all gamers all the time. I tend to ignore reviews and others opinions because they aren't me and they generally have no idea what I like/dislike.

Keep in mind also, this is a site dedicated to news and discussion about games. You are going to see opinions you do not agree with and that is a good thing if we all agreed on everything, it would be a pretty boring hobby.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

Even the most liked brand of clothes will have offerings that some people will hate. Or don't fit as well as people would like. Or are overpriced. Or pretty much any other reasoning you can attribute to "gamers".

So how would you respond to people aggressively defending clothes designs that others really hate? Call them haters? Bigots? Whiners? Entitled?

What's that thing that makes people so emotionally invested when talking about games that doesn't translate at all for other consumer products?
  • BeansnBreadBeansnBread Member EpicPosts: 7,254
    Umm... I'm happy in general.

If 20 million people buy a game and 1% bitch about it on the internet, it turns into 200,000 people bitching about it. People are actually often completely happy with the games they buy. The internet just has a way of concentrating those that are unhappy into an extremely loud and obnoxious bunch of depressing assholes.
  • WizardryWizardry Member LegendaryPosts: 19,332
We call those who accept whatever they are given as suckers. You can also call then NAIVE consumers, uneducated consumers, not understanding what they are buying.

I have to almost laugh at the very mention of saying something like "it could be better" then saying said reality.Should re read that statement and think about it.

When you say something 'could be better"yeah that is about as obvious as the sun in the sky. This would be like saying,ok the developer only spent 3 days making the game, but HEY guess what it could be better but that is not SAID REALITY !!!.Just accept it.

You have to use common sense and JUDGEMENT,you need to understand what the heck you are talking about. Those that understand game design, know how long it should take and also know what is VERY doable compared to reasonable or NOT much effort.Point being it is NOT or never is as simple as just saying it could be better but that is not said reality.
WHO says it is  said reality? Why can't they make a game better?I simply mark it down to people who don't know anything or very little about what these devs can or cannot do.

I'll use ONE very simple example.Games with structures, some devs create moving working doors with inside objects in the building, some games only create the outer static surface with no insides. So since the one developer PROVED it can be done and showed the effort, the OTHER developer should be ridiculed for a lazy cheap ,sloppy effort. Then we get some forum users who say the second crappy game/developer is ok ,it is the people who complain are not seeing said reality ...lol,whatever.

That's because developers need to understand what type of players they are aiming for.
If you make a generic MMO which attracts every type of player possible in the firmament, it's a given that you will have conflicting feedback.

I remember the first real PvP fights on WoW forums, it was about Class balance.
One one corner we had the PvEers which wanted more uniqueness and variety between Classes (for a better group experience), on the opposite corner the PvPers who wanted more closeness and balance between Classes (for a more fair PvP).
So Blizzard started messing with Class balance, once listening the PvErs, once listening the PvPers,  royally pissing everyone in the process.
If you want to please everyone that's what happens.

Gamers are a "vertical slice" of the general population, or at least those that have time for hobbies.

I would be afraid if "gamers" did all agree on one thing.

Correction the "vocal minority " is never happy.  Video game sales increase every year MILLIONS AND MILLION of people enjoy video games as the sales numbers year after year show.  They just stay away from cesspools of negativity on the internet.

The four our five super mmorpg users who drive the negativity on this site may think they speak for the majority but they don't.  The 100 or so over on any reddit channel crying about every game that gets released also dont.  The ones who span metacritic think they drive the video game industry they dont.

The bandwagon jumpers, the constant negativity seen on sites like this accomplished one this.  These people give ALL video gamers a bad name.
