As desperate as I am for a new MMO, this just doesn't appeal to me. I WANT to like this game but nothing impresses me. It looks like a cheap rip-off of ESO imo.

The game just comes off as having a complete lack of cotent and a coherent direction. There's no dungeons, no raids, outside some of the most basic looking AI and shitty combat encounters... It's just a survival MMO and we have more than enough of those.

Feels like they've delayed it as long as they could and need to put it out while they feel they can get a 'reasonable' buy-in. More-than-likely, this title will be forgotten before year's end. Hell, even Crucible is forgotten and it hasn't even been out a month. My biggest fear in all of this is that they won't even try again PROPERLY. They do have a lot of money to dump but no creative. You can have the most talented people in the business working for you but if there's no good creative direction, its all pointless. One other thing that will probably end up holding them back regardless of whatever they make is that they want twitch integration. I think people forgot them mentioning all the games they wanted to put out to have such a feature. MMORPGs aren't exactly good long-term streamable content.

I pre-ordered it day 1 on Amazon for 0$ and have an email from them stating plainly that they will honor the zero dollar price. Same is true for a lot of people so I'm glad I pre-ordered.

Man ever anti-pvp, hardcore PvE only guy on this forum better purchase, jump in and have a great f’n time.

Just surprised they decided on another survival game.ut They switched directions with PvE but now it just feels so last minute and too late. The back story is interesting but the initial directions does not appeal.

That being said - I feel like the majority of us spending time on this forum want true MMOs while the majority market want games like this.. I mean look at mobile games which make so much money yet majority of us based on posts don’t play them.

This game may be a hit but won’t be that feeling to me at least.

It would not surprise me a bit if the August 25th date was pushed back considering the current state of the project.
The state of the product would be known by the coders/Producer.
The people that make  the decisions, wouldn't have a clue unless the producer was brave enough to tell them ""i failed, please fire me"

All the investors and owners ...BEZOS wants to hear is" how soon before we can launch this".
I  highly Doubt Bezos has ever set foot in a video game nor does he even care about video games. He has LOT's of people working under him, people he trusts to make money, there is a very good chance many of them don't know a single thing about quality of a video game.

Also likely why they were quick to hire Smedley,as badly as he has failed the last 10 years,he is still an experienced businessman that knows a LOT more about games and the business than most people working at Amazon.
No question Smedley knows more about than i do or anyone in these forums, all i can do is look at decisions that are made and chime in on weather they were good or not from a consumer's standpoint,i leave the business side to guys like Smedley.

Survival MMO though, so not sure it will be for me, far too much "survival" in place of content typically in such MMO's.

i forgot i did too, checked my order history

    ORDER PLACED
    October 3, 2016
    TOTAL
    $0.00

almost 4 years later but if it don't cost me a dime guess it worth giving it a shot. also it always worth pre ordering on amazon if you going get it anyway, they honor lowest price ever since pre ordered, seen new games and books get real low and able get them day one. if money a issue or you have a moral stance and want make a statement against X sure ignore the game/item till it hit your price.

The heck I just watched?! Who in their right mind from their advertising team, came up with the idea that is OK to make a "game play trailer" ............. in ZOOM mode?!?

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward for the release, but this trailer is pathetic.

When the game is so close to release and the publisher is literally hiding the game from the public with just showing small glimpse, it means they are not confident with the game.
Say what you want defended it how much you want but this will fail hard.

Definitely not a survival game, it's certainly crafting heavy but not a survival game.

I read many posters above complaining about the "survival" aspects but I was under the impression that they toned these down too, so much that "survival game" fans complain that it can no longer be tagged as a "survival game" either...

If anything, I think the prevailing opinion is that it is no longer "anything", not sandbox, not PVE, not PVP, not survival. Personally, I wait to see for myself as soon as the NDA is lifted and the first videos are out on release (or beta):

Anyone calling this a suvival game is way out of touch and probably only knows what they showed several years ago when you started the game punching trees and had to craft everything. Even back then that initial survival vibe was toned-down considerably after the start.

Now there are loot drops from mobs and quest rewards, with some of those drops being the best in the game.

You're right in that the game does have an identity crisis and doesn't seem to know what it wants to be when it grows up but it resembles MMORPGs much more than survival.

There are a lot of things about it that turn me off at the moment but dismissing it as a survival game is ignorant.

For me, the elephant in the room that nobody is addressing is how will it run? The lumber yard engine runs sooooooo poorly on star citizen, it's made me completely cautious of anything running the engine

Well the fact that server population is going to be low and that anything that in an open world game could cause large numbers of players to congregate, like their PvP castle sieges and monster castle attacks, is instead instanced with strict player upper limits of 50 v. 50 for PvP or 50 max for the PvE, should tell you all you need to know about the performance.
