Yes like the Original Game Dark And Light. (settlers of Ganarath)
everyone from all around the world joined in to the same server. (yes Ping was high for some)
but it was a MMORPG and well placed. so the Ping was balanced. and not as important as a FPS.

it had used "Big world server tech" that is now owned by world of tanks from what i had read.

but it was so cool seeing this in game. but of all my looking for games like this only a few are close to it.

Pax Dei has servers and regions yet has a large population on them. yet not one server for everyone.

Star Citizen - is working on New Tech to make this possible again. "server meshing"
Dual Universe - is one that has it and is not doing so well. also has a world built on voxels a cool idea for a space game. (wish it was doing better.)
Mortal Online 2 - i have been told it is One server for everyone to join and play on, so i am looking in to it. seems the base build is a lot like AOC not good.

so seeing it is hard to look for a game with One Server for us all.
anyone else know of more games like this?
 please let me know.

EVE online is one people told me about.
but really looking for a MMORPG medieval fantasy style.
But please tell me any games that are massive amount of players. one server for everyone games.

I remember all the people from different area would pile in their own areas.
the south was full of French and Spanish speaking areas.
the mid line had a small China area.
     North was mostly English speaking.
but when you went flying around the world you ended up in areas that you would have to have translators or use the online ones to communicate.
     it was so cool.
but the one server for everyone i know may not work on new games with people looking for better pings. but i would like to see it again. so if anyone has Info on how to find games like this. lets call it.
    OSFA= One Server For All
so people looking for games like it can find it.

I would say, if you can deal with open FFA PvP, Mortal Online 2 is the best on that list. There are hundreds of skills and crafts. The 'basic' form of magic (kind of similar to UO's magic spell book) has something like 170-200 spell. That is just ONE school of magic. There are no classes. You can learn any skills you want. You can build and place a home or castle (if you can afford and defend it) anywhere in the world. You can tame pets for combat or riding - you can sell these pets at the animal trader. This game has a lot to offer... IF you can get past the open FFA PvP.

ESO is mega server tech that spawns multiple instances of each area, and only puts a few people in each instance. I don't think it's what he's looking for.

One to note that fits your criteria is Ultima Online (thinking of OUTLANDS). Maybe also Myth of Empires? Not sure how they set up their servers, though. I'm guessing you want housing or building of some kind in there... I'll keep thinking.

    EDIT:
Some old games still kept alive will meet the one server criteria as well.

Old MMO, free - DAoC Eden - Housing
Old MMO, free - Warhammer Reckoning - No Housing
Old MMo, not free - The Realm Online - Housing

Really though, you should try Mortal if you haven't.

Well it's split between PC and console users, but Neverwinter Online those unique users are all on the same server.

Vendetta Online is you want some space action.  Has PvE and Pvp areas.  Open 'world' so you do what you want to.

ESO is one of the few games that every faction and player can team with anyone in the game. The game spins off copies of the zone that is easy to jump between to be with your friends. I have not seen anyone do this better.

Technically I would agree, lore wise it is an abomination.

I count myself fortunate that I never, EVER bother with "Lore" (just a made-up backstory, supposed to add depth to a game) in any game I have ever played.  It has no significant effect on gameplay or my character anyway.  One example... if I can play a being from an "evil" race, I expect the game to allow me to BE an evil character in the game.  They never do, so screw "Lore" utterly and absolutely.

do not like instances in a open world.
did enjoy them on EQ2 it was like a solo run with friends if you let them come with you. it was build for your level to be challenging.
like the Old CompuServe add.( one was programed to be challenging and the other wants to rip your heart out. which one do you want to play?)
But all the trill of watching your back keeping a extra heal pot ready incase someone tried to jump you. added something to the game.

I know very few games anymore that are one world without some sort of instancing or copying to handle population and lag. A lot of old games were like that but they suffered from lag badly. Nothing recent comes to mind but like someone mentioned, some games, like Mortal Online and such with FFA PVP or hardcore PVP might.

ESO is the closest I have come to that one world design but not so much due to the technology.

i normally play a Evil side.
am not putting on a white hat and pretending to be Good.
i know i am Evil yet i do not just do Evil i am not evil for the sake of being Evil.
I have seen more people with the white hat on do more Evil than the ones with the Black hat on.

PVP for PVP is not a fun PVP game really. but PVP with a motive other than just PVP is Good.

Dark and Light it was not a Good vs Evil kind of thing. you had a side and sometime you wanted to kill the people on your side but could not. unless you worked out a deal with the Light side to get them to take out your competition. or made ALTs to do it.
You did not kill just to kill someone you attacked to protect your land and kingdoms.

defending your Keeps, and land from other. so you can control the kingdom.

Play EVE where you can wear any color hat when and where you wish.

Plenty of shades of grey in between where you can serve on the side of either the Random or the Purpose.

It's been years since I last played Eve, but it was great to play a game where you could do exactly what you wanted, where you wanted and how you wanted.  I've never played a game since that allowed me to do that.  Back when I played WoW with my kids and the Death Knight came out, I absolutely loved the intro quest.  "Finally", I thought, "a character than can do evil stuff!!"  imagine my disappointment when, after the redemption arc, the character was on a railroad to becoming the same goody-goody generic character as every other character.  ?

Just for a change, I don't want to help villagers get rid a problem - I want to BE the problem.

Are you talking the Dark and Light game that was essentially a fantasy reskin of ARK? It had Human, Elf, and Dwarf races. And, you tame with hook-arrows tied to ropes to hold down the beasts?

I have known of so many players and indeed guilds who I think of as "the problem" in PvP, so I don't see the issue. You also said you "(never) bother with the lore" so why be concerned about what you are doing in quests?

But I do have two suggestions for you, the evil side in EQ2 and Warhammer Online really do give you a sense of being the problem. Check them out.

No that was a rip off. the ARK knock off was a remake of the OG.

One of the things i really like was the PVP was over Land,
protecting land and the Kingdom you are in.
If the Light side moved in to the Dark kingdom.
they would take out a few small forts and take them over. for them to have a starting area to take out the Next level up Fort called the Barony.

all Forts had a timer that was set went built they picked a Time that it could be attackable every day. for 4 hours i think.
("The Front" game is like this)

so they would have to scout out the small Forts find the time it was attackable and attack them take them over.
and then be ready to take out the Barony fort.

you needed 3 Forts of your side in the Barony to attack the Barony.
(i think it had a max of 5 Forts in a barony 6 if you count the Barony Fort)
you will need 3 Barony Forts to attack the County.
and you will need 3 County Forts to attack the Duchy
(same conditions when making the Forts, Barony, County, Duchy for the 1st time. they had to be build none to attack.)
(i am trying to remember how it went. so my not be 100% on it)

after you have the control of all the areas you could go for the kingdom.
yes you could over throw the king and end his rule. he was a player and the King could set the Tax rate of the lands. so wars always had been going on. it was one of the coolest things going on in that game. ( kind of like the Board game "RISK")
