2 yrs of WoW and Im bored... suggestions?

Heres the thing, Im the type of player that likes depth in games. Unfortunately these games have been labled as having to difficult of a learning curve etc.. and dont do so well.

A few games Ive played:

1. Klingon Academy: Absolutely loved this game. Played it till it was dead, and had only 10-20 people online playing.

2. Jump Gate: Another spectacular game, development and advertising on the other hand was horrible. Its still out there, however NetDevil has dropped support on this down to 1 dev a long time ago.. game is pretty much dead.

3. DAoC: great game, just got old.

4. SWG: SOE happened.. need I say anything else.

5. DDO: blah... content, solo play

6. CoV: blah

7. WoW: sigh... the only thing around? im sooooo bored.

Im looking for some good suggestions of something to get into.. waiting on Age of Conan and Pirates of the Burning Seas, but they seem to have been pushed back to next year.

Any ideas peeps?

games out now can be boring for veteran mmo players. only thing to do is wait for the new wow expansion or wait for new mmos i guess.

Well if you haven't tried EVE yet give the 14-day trial a shot. It may not be what you're looking for but then again it may. Only way to find out is to try it.

Saga of ryzom if your looking for somthing diffrent.

Its a sandbox type of game you decide what you want to do so some people loose interest once they get to the mainland because theirs no direct task at hand, the game is what you make it, exploring and getting involved in the storyline is were the real fun is at though imo

Theirs also pvp over outpost, which are fun as well if you want to get into pvp.

Could also try planetside, an fps with a persistant world. games fun when ur working with squads, some fights can get really huge as well.

Guld Wars or Guild Wars factions, is probably the next fantasy I will try. I might give the Wow expansion a go also. Something to do.

Other than that I'm not really excited about anything MMO except Huxley currently.

Might I suggest some of the older games like Asheron's Call or Ultima Online? There is a huge list of games here, and a big list of free ones at the top of this forum, take some time and check some of them out.

Try AO (Anarchy Online), a very complex game for the beginning mmo player, but since I think your a veteran MMO player i'll think you'll like this game. Graphics outdated, but since u like Jumpgate you'll be fine with this game. Community is mature, haven't heard a person say "Noob" or "choob" or something else duragatory (Like Runescape), No scammers or hackers at least not to my knowledge. Doeson't lag very much. The Original version is free for a year so you can try it out before you upgrade.

    Ya heard

I'd advice you to try EVE. The average EVE player only lasts for 7 months, but if different aspects interrests you(Such as development, PvE, PvP), it may be your game. You could try the trial, but you wouldn't be able to experience that much of the game.

Play the original EverQuest. It has truckloads of content, and fairly in-depth gameplay. Old as it is, it's still a good game.

Tetris.... If WoW kept you entertained for 2 years, then Tetris will keep you going for at least 20.

    sorry, just couldn't resist.

I too was once impressed by Jumpgate, in that earlier era.

Tried a few other MMOs, eventually settled on Eve as giving me everything I wanted, and a whole lot of mature, deep gameplay that I didn't know I needed (and now couldn't be without).

My friend stopped playing WOW and started EQ2 on PVP server.

    Hes having a blast.

  • ferthalaferthala Member Posts: 129

When I left WoW bored about it, i tried lots of them. And the two I liked more where EVE (if you like sci-fi) and EQ2 (if you preffer fantasy).

I am still playing EQ2 since then.

    EQ2.

It has a fantasy theme like WoW and good quests.Lovely community and best of all-good "end game" content which is not reserved purely for raiding(though if you are into raiding there is much more options then WoW offered).

Think OP needs a break from playing MMOs.

  • BlurrBlurr Member UncommonPosts: 2,155

You know I hate to say it, but I agree. EQ2 is probably where you wanna go next.

I tried the 'trial of the isle' and I thought it sucked hard, but then I got a full copy of the game from the gamesandbox thing and i"m having an absolute blast with it.

I am having the same problem as the OP, except, I just played EQ2 for a few months and, while not a bad game, has bored me at about level 38ish. Its just not as fun as WoW. Of course, I went back to WoW but am hating it now.

I'd also highly recommen eve online....That is if you are the hardcore pvp mmoer.  It's one of the few games out there where you can kill ppl and steal some of there shit if it isn't destroyed when you destroy there ship.  If they had insurance on the ship they get some of the money back but they still have to rebuy the equipment to outfit the ship so it makes them grief so much.  Ontop of that you can pod them and if they have expensive implants equiped, they will commit suicide irl...Its awesome
