what races are good for a monk?

i just want a quick answer here. does race really matter for class choice? if so, what races make a good monk? i'm not interested in min/maxxing here, but I do want to know if there are some races I should really be focusing on for my choice.

    I don't know the best really...but I picked a barbarian and had no trouble getting him through any of the lower levels.  In fact I'm still doing well at lvl 33.  Hope that helps

    I made a bald wood elf monk, very tough little character :)

    Race doesnt matter at all, just pick what you like the look of.

    They are right, race doesn't really matter. I chose a half elf for looks.

    Well my Monk was Barbarian. Played him to lvl 70 and 26 AAs.

    Pretty Good Tanker and Hit like a Thunderstrike.

    Go with the big races with high Str/Sta.

    They nerfed Agi so badly not worth it.

    Str is power ad Sta is life.

    alright thanks for info. i plan on getting the game perhaps in november, when the new expansion comes out (since that package comes with the game +all expansions). i heard only certain races can start in that new faerie city, but maybe that changed so all races can start there.

      I am pretty sure that all "good " races can start in Kelethin.

    Its going to be:

    Dwarf, Fae, Gnome, Half Elf, Wood Elf and High Elf.
