i am looking for a fun mmo with a balance of pve and pvp right now i'm thinking of this or wow possible eq2 what would you guys reccomend? And would daoc be good enough for casual players for those that dont always have all day to spend playing the game?
Comments
I can only comment from my personal experience and playstyle, but for a balance of pve/pvp daoc is the way to go.
I've played all three games and DAoC has the best PVP, hands down. EQII has the best PVE with WOW close behind. As far as a balance goes, DAoC has them beat.
The only problem with DAoC is there aren't a lot of lower level players running around. There are however, plenty of high level players willing to help you advance to get into the fray.
If you are new, I suggest starting on the Gareth server. There is a higher population of low level toons because the 50's cant use the / command to jump the 1st 20 levels.
Like I said, this is from my limited experience as a returning player.

WoW is not that casual friendly at high levels. You need gear and gear requires a substanital amount of time invested in raiding.
In DAOC, you are not forced to do any form of PvP. It is a much more casual friendly game. There is some raiding you should do if you play on the regular servers but those are pretty easy to do now. If you are really casual you can play the Classic servers. It does not have the massive raid expansion. So you miss out on a lot of PvE content, but if you do not have a lot of time to play and want to do more RvR (PvP) then these servers might work for you.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
He flamed an ad that a gold-farmer stuck in the thread. I didn't bother replying to it, I just reported it.

Be aware though that, at the present state of the players of DAoC, you will most probably have a hard time getting successful in pvp, because the game has been online for 5 years. The players are pro's. Most groups are not random so getting in groups can also be tough. I quit Daoc because I thought PVP too hard to get to, and I didn't feel like being a Realm point cow...
And sadly the game's dying too....
yeah i would pick eq2 its wayyyyyyyy better

It can be hard sometimes to get a group - but hardly impossible. Also in the guild news (on the Camelot Herald) there are a number of guilds recruiting - on many of the servers. That would be a good way to start - even if its the trial version. I was fortunate to land in a good guild right from the beginning- and there are lots of them. Nice way to meet people - learn stuff and help in turn when you can.
As for the game dying - I don't think so - not just yet - however those that post at a lot of sites saying it is dying - doesn't make for a good way to get new players - try and decided for yourself
