Can you believe it ?

I played for 6 years from Beta on Chessy. Had GM's in basically everything on my 2 main accounts and mules and my wifes characters on the 3rd.

9 years old and when I went to look at the site I was sorely tempted to play again lol.... but you cant go back...

Anyone still playing ?

Played for ~4-5 on Baja. I was a total newb, the whole time. Didn't even learn how to macro-mine until a few months before I quit.

And no, you can't go back. It just doesn't work. No matter how fond the memories, it's not even remotely the same. See my sig.

Listen Asmodeeus, seven years ago, Ultima Online didn't even have those pathetic "quests" that you refer to or those "professions" of ninja, samurai, necromancer, and paladin. Nor did it have any of the neon crap, or bug mounts. It didn't even have any "combat moves." You turned on attack and jousted with simplistic swings. It was a better game then. if you can't guess why then just uninstall the thing and move along. - Crabby

I only wish I could take credit for saying it first.

    I love you UO! <3

I so badly miss my theif. (not thief, theif).

    No longer visiting MMORPG.com.

    Ah theifs.....

We had one on Chessy.... I cant think of his name. Absolute classic roleplaying theif. I swear if you stood still for 2 seconds in Brtain you could lose your Y fronts to this guy and not know they were gone till next time you need a #@$%

I am amazed people still play 2d graphic games with 3rd person view only.

happy birthday UO one of the few mmos that gets used as an example of how to succeed rather than the butt end of "the next D&L" jokes

mmos have never been the cutting edge in realistic physics anyway, theyre 90% which ruleset you like

so you if dont constantly feel like youd have a better time waste vs fun ratio if you switched over to ruleset b from ruleset a, a good game with horrible graphics has a chance at outlasting a game with brilliant graphics

Yeah but there is a reason.

UO still has a depth of content and variety that would leave the next 3 MMO's combined for dead.

I actually prefer the 2D version to the 3D. I just couldnt get used to the 3D stuff. I played right through my 6 years in 2D. I often defended UO's grafix as "stylised" rahter than outdated. There is no shortage of detail. I mean you can maniulate a single gold coin in a variety of ways, so the detail is pretty intricate.

If you could transfer UO's content and play options to an environment with EQ2's graphics, Id be signing up for another 6.
