Can anyone tell me how to transfer the EvE directory on my friends computer to mine over a network connection?

  •      Just to verify what's going on here, you're trying to copy the extracted and installed directory from one PC over to another? I'm 99% certain that the client won't run properly if you're going to do it that way.
It's best to just go to this site: EVE 14-day trial download, sign up for a trial account, even if it's bogus, and use the download link to grab a copy of the install media. That's the best way to get it done. Dragging and dropping the EVE game directory from one PC to another over a network just isn't going to fly. Hope this helps!

actually copying the installed program does work :)

i had 3 copies of the same installation running, 2 on mine and 1 on my girlfriends comp

basically i was double boxing on mine, and i copied the isntalled files becasue it causes less lag to ahve 2 seperate installs running for some reason, and then i copied one set over to hers, so she could play :)

    edit*
on second reading it sounds like you need to download the latest patch, or the full client whichever is easier for you :)

sounds like acorrupt dl, in that case you should transfer the client from your friends comp by whatever means possible, however you do realise that the entire client will fit on 1 cdr? that would be the easier way, for him to burn the installer to disc.

    It's really simple.

If you're both running Windows XP just connect both pc's to a router. Turn off the firewalls and AV programs. Share the drive on his pc that the directory is on. Map his drive to your pc and drag it over where you want it.

Remember Copeland that not everyone knows how to do what you just said. So I'll step it the process out for transferring the eve folder to another Computer via LAN

    1. ensure both computers are connected off of the same router/hub/switch

    2. On your friends computer, the source, copy the EVE directory to the shared Documents folder (it's at the bottum of the My Computer section in windows explorer.

    3. On your computer open up the My Network Places window from the desktop.

    4. Go to  Entire Network/Microsoft Windows Network/ then look for his computer.

    5. You should be able to his his shared documents folder with the EVE directory.6. Copy/move the folder on to your computer.

    6. Right drag the EVE.exe file to the dexktop to create your shortcut

That should work you through it, If I missed something let me know I'll try to add it.
