I just canceled my account after 6 months of steady EQ2 playing because I felt I had overdosed on the game. However, I felt a bit leary about canceling because I know a small group of players who were about my level and we often grouped together and I worry about them all being much higher than me when I return in a month or two.

For those who have quit and then resub'ed, did you find that it was harder to group and was the game less enjoyable because you couldn't play with all your old "friends"?

You wont have problems getting into groups.  The current group you hang with will definately have a lot more levels on you when you return, but they may also have started alts that could be in your level range.  Other than that you could always be mentored by them if they wanted to help you catch up.

Any MMO becomes less enjoyable when you can't group with your old friends.  Sure you can meet new ones but that doesn't keep you from missing the ones that you had before.

    Cheers,

I've actually done just that, napalmsweb.

I just returned to EQ2 after some months away. While my old friends are, indeed, way ahead of me now, we still enjoy getting together for many good reasons. I've enjoyed much better gear than I could've made at my own lvl. This is a nice plus to having good Higher-Lvl friends in EQ2, or any mmorpg for that matter.

Also, I've already made friends with players closer to my own lvl; & some of my higher-lvl friends have been kind enough to make new chars so we can still enjoy the whole scene together. Hopefully, you've got the same kinds of Good Friends there. If so, they won't let You down.

    Happy Adventuring!

I have done that many times.  Been playing EQ2 since launch, off and on.   I always find a new guild, and a new group of friends when i join again.  Just makes it more enjoyable, Im on a PvP server, so, betraying to the other side, its kinda like starting freash.

For me, EQ2 is addicting as hell for a few months, then gets borring as hell, so i quit-- after a few months, i return.
