Exept this game is based on the mainstream version not the Roleplay version.

The closest i know of to warlocks tho is chaos sourcery and Necromancy for undead forces oh and Dark elves too can use Amber magic [death magic].

You're completely wrong with that last statement.

What makes you think that the Tabletop is the Mainstream verson? The Roleplay has a pretty good following. And besides, Mythic and Games Workshop have said that the MMO is it's own game and will draw from both the Tabletop and Roleplay.

But anyway, this is an mmoRPG. You'd think it wouldd definitely take some things from the Paper and Pen RPG even if Mythic hadn't offical announced it in their FAQs.

Anyway, back on topic. Considering the Orcs have Squig Hearders, Summoners wouldn't bet a far-fetched bet. If a group has them, my bet is on the Chaos Hoarde being the group behind it.

Except that Mythic already stated they are gonna take things from ALL warhammer versions, not only one or the other. Demon summoning in the TT makes no sense as you buy troops with points and having one mage able to summon more troops would unbalance the point system quite a lot, but in a Mmorpg?

I do not see the problem as we already have pet classes in the game :D

We really cant say if there will be a "warlock" type class, there is pet classes but not every races will have them, the only one confirmed is the squig herder, i think they hinted about the Dark elves Beastmaster but it's really all speculation, wait and see, wait and see...

my guess is, if empire doesnt get pet classes, chaos wont either.

at the moment the race versus race is balanced upon what classes they can meet.

    rune priest vs. shaman
    squig herder vs engirneer
    hammerer vs. splitclaw/berserker
    black orc vs. ironbreaker

the squig herder is against the "minor pet" class, which doesnt get pets, but many devices, which i would see as a "minor" pet class.
not robotic devices, but to compensate for the lack of pets, he gets bombs and other stuff, which isnt JUST special abilities, but works like a proffession/tradeskill.

so if chaos gets pet class, my guess would be they should also include one for empire, and what should that be? o.O

    eeer...... Engineer?

Empire is renowed for their mechanical prowess. Their quality might be inferior to dwarves, but their ingenuity is higher as they can think without being completely linked to traditions and ancestors and stuff.

So if you consider the Dwarven Engineer a good "pet" class (in my vision, pet class and engineer have nothing to do with each other, but to each his own... i more see the Squig Herder as a Ranged class and the Engineer is a Ranged Class also.... they are just different iterations of Ranged Classes :D), basically anything could go "against" a Chaos Demon Summoner, if that would be a Chaos class.

what i mean with a pet class is, he has DEVICES to compensate for what the squig herder has.
therefore making him a minor pet career/ranged career.
i know, it sounds wierd, but if you see it as: devices = pets, then its not hard :P

adding engineers to empire would be too non-varied.
you know, dwarfs got engineers, empire got engineers... high elfs will get engineers? :P
but if you made the summoner more of an offensive debuffer thingy, with SOME demons to summon - as a minor addition to his selections of debuffs - then it would work fine as the versus role to forexample a sigmar priest(which I think will be in..).

debuffer/petclass versus buffer/melee -> guess that could work for me.. but i am not soo very creative, so i cant come up with anything else, really ::::15::

yeah, i understood what you meant.

What I meant is that makes no sense to me. How having bombs compensate for having a squig(s) around you all the time?

So far as we know engineers have no permanent "gadgets" and all their stuff is explosives, guns and artiellry bombardment.

That beside, a Chaos Warlock with debuff abilities and some summoning VS Sigmar priest actually fit.

Warlocks in the warhammer world, is nothing like WoW's warlock class at all.

In Warhammer fantasy, warlocks are infact the greatest spell caster of them all - After years of training.
A warlock practises illegal magic, but that doesn't mean it's evil - He's simply not licensed to it, nor have he gone to one of the 8 magic colleges. As a warlock is not bound to any specific college, he is allowed to dable in what magic he seems fit. Unlike a wizard of a specific college, who gets a spell list, the warlock gets none. He pays experience points for every single spell, which is 100-200/spell IIRC(Which is quite alot.). Therefor, over time, the warlock can grow really strong. Ofcourse, this is at great risk. If someone get the sligthest hint of this, the witchhunter may pay him a visit pretty darn soon.

The chances of this class entering game? Zero. The warlock(As well as occultists, etc) represent the darker side of the empire, and can be compared to criminals of our world.
If this class was to be implented, the warlock would have to flee to another faction(Such as dark elfs, chaos, greenskins) and work against the empire.

Yeah, all true, but "Warlock" is also used in the sense of "Chaos Warlock". A mage that practices "Dark" magic (the Dark Lore).

THOSE ones have demon summoning magics.

i wanna be a slann-mage priest! those fat frogs own!

but seriously, the chaos magician shouldnt be a demon summoner(as a primare) as i said, it would add too little variation to the game.
you know, the evil has squig herders, and then if they add beastmaster to the dark elfs, and give chaos summoners, then everyone has them.

pet classes are a "special class", but if you add them to the entire race selection then you destroy the "special" part of it..

hehe Slann mages would be way too powerfull ;)

Lord Kroak (sp?) is allready way too good (and costs way too much points, you can field an entire army against 1 Lord kroak xD)

I don't want there to be an entire Pet summoning class for a chaos but if I'm not allowed to have a pet Nurgling, I at least want a pet flying disk.

Squig isn't even a little compensation for a Nurgling :(
