For all who think the rating matters on the site it dosent some game could be more popular and have a lower rating like wow has a lower rating then guildwars but wow is more popular.
Yay we can talk about WoW some more...! Really, I don't know why people use it as an example. The whole discussion is probably going to be sidetracked into likening WoW to Walmart and McDonalds now.
Which is a shame because the core point about the ratings has an element of truth. The ratings are just a long-running online poll. Which means that it only reflects the opinions of people who turn up to rate games on this website. Which isn't exactly earth shattering in its statistical significance.
2.) Learn english, if you know it already, use it damn you
3.) popularity does not mean something is good or bad
4.) ratings also dont mean something is good or bad
5.) the majority of people on this forum and elsewhere dont give a damn about either popularity or ratings.
6.) The only thing that really matters when choosing a game, is if it is fun for you.

Except that the aim of the ratings isn't to find out which is most popular but, rather, which has the best overall features, according to the members of this site.
WoW is very popular, then again the vast majority of WoW players are not native MMORPG players, they are console gamers and single play gamers who were attracted to WoW by the Warcraft and Blizzard names. Among MMORPG players it's really not any more popular than the other top MMO's on the market.

Why would I care which game is more popular? I want to know which I will prefer, not which is more popular. The fact that 5 million Chinese people like WoW doesn’t tell me if I will like WoW. (In fact it’s more likely to indicate I wouldn’t like it)
One of the best ways to find out what product you will prefer is to find out what products people like you have tried and liked and the people who rate games here have far more in common with my taste in games then the 5 million Asians or the 1.5 million MMO first timers who play WoW.
The ratings on this side abide by certain categories which makes up the result. The ones who have topped are the ones who have performed most well across the array of categories. WoW should probably be there, but think it lost points for customer service and community.

While you admitedly have better grammar than the OP, as well as an overall better grasp of our beautiful language, I don't think made-up statistics and convulted logic are proper weapons against his post.
I'd much rather just call him stupid and move on, but to each his own.

Excatly, ratings are rating the quality of the game. If had actually gone to rate a game, he would see that your ratings is a composition of many different factors of the game. There is no wonder why WoW is low on the list, the gameplay is sub-par. It's just popular for some unknown reason. Probably because it resembles a MO more than an MMO.

I pity the fool who scored Runescape a perfect 10.
