Choosing a new game

I have a big dilema, I dont know what to choose.
Im looking for a mmorpg, shall I wait for a new game or shall I start with a old one?
I have tried Eve and Anarchy Online, didnt like them to much but Anarchy Online was kinda neat.
But it would be nice to start at the same level as the most others.
What should I do ? I like games that are much into profesions that can build their own houes and stuff. To brag about my wealth 
What do you think ? Got any ideas ?

as far as things already out, swg seems to suit what your asking about. the skills and character development are totally profession based, and theres plenty of things you can decorate your house with.
swg has its pros and cons, which i'm not gonna get into right now, you can find all the arguing about that in the swg section of the boards. i will say i no longer play or suscribe.
as far as whats coming out, theres the oh so anticipated Lineage 2, CoH, UXO, and WOW. These seems to be that main 4 that people have the highest hopes for in '04. Not having beta'ed any of them but Lineage, I can't really speak to what they have to offer.
My best suggestion would be to research the games with worlds you find interesting, ask about them on the forums (always taking responses with a grain of salt), and try out what you think you'll like.

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.
I have started to really like the EverQuest 2 idea.
What shall I do, wait for it and try to be in the beta or get EverQuest now ?
