    Being free does seem to give games a 3-5 point bump on the ratings.

    I've tried some of the highly rated free games and they have turned out to be complete... well, let's just say they were not very good.

    With the 3rd expansion pack due at the end of the month, Guild Wars is not necessarily free, just less expensive.

    Its a good game, I gotta give it props for that. Its class structure is extremely unique, innovativive, and fun. However I would take eve over it any day. But its about personal preferance so it wouldnt bug me too much to see it usurp eve, despite my loyalties to it.

    I play both eve and guildwars. I posted a longer post about this earlier but this forums crashed. Lets just say the games are complete opposites and therefore compliment each other well. In fact guild wars makes a good backup for any game.

    They aren't even remotely similar.

    I suppose it’s a matter of opinion.  It seemed noteworthy at the time and this is
    the Eve Online General Discussion forum where we are invited to “Talk about whatever
    in here.”


    As I posted in my earlier (now rolled back post), this was
    never intended to be a “trash Guild Wars” post.  I’ve never played Guild Wars and have no
    opinion about it one way or another.  I
    had just grown accustomed to seeing Eve on the top of the list, then, it was
    not.

    agreed... even after reading the poster's follow up...

    If you are curious about why Guild Wars is tied for #1 talk trash about it in the Guild Wars forum

    and really I don't care... I just want enough posts to be able to review games

    The MMORPG Rating imo should be looked at more than the User Rating.

    Because we all know most of the User Rating's are sabotaged, with multiple accounts being made just to boost a games rating lol...

    Think about it,only desperate games resort to these kinds of tactics, don't make EVE appear like that, because it's far from desperate imo image

    well , i played eve 14 day trial , i can see why its a good game and why it WAS for so long at 1# and might come back one day.

    BUT , you guys should not say guildwars is a bad game that sucs and only as 1337omfgn00bspwndyourmom

    becose that is not true.

    im playing computer games since zxspectrum and guildwars is the best game i ever played for many reasons.

    Actually i think you will find a lot of people here like guild wars as well as a fantasy mmo. Compared to the other fantasy based games on this site it does use a different aproach afterall. However the reason i and many others rate Eve higher is because of the community i still remember when i first started the tutorial section where we had people advertising there Hoes!!! image.

    Sadly the community didnt improve much from there and i soon got tired of it. Also another reason some people object to guildwars is how it seems to have multiple places on the top ten section of this website when the other sections are just expansion packs [shakes head]. And is starting to clutter the top ten up now making it hard to judge games nowadays.

    Netherless congrats to making 1st and 3rd place.

    I was shocked enough by that myself to start posting so I can make my own review -- seeing EVE on the #1 slot when I first visited here did alot towards getting me addicted. =D

    Guild wars is a great game for what it is. I played the original for a while but it wasnt what I was looking for in a mmorpg. I couldnt handle the instancing but I loved the gfx and the combat was reasonably fun.

    I hope EVE drops to say number 5 in the rankings, it might stop all the moaning from other MMO players who seem to be jealous that their favourite game isn't at no.1.

    Seriously, how can you rate EVE with anything above a 7? It is an extremely boring single player experience with less than average PVP. I held an account for 6 months, hell, my WoW account lasted longer than that, and that says something. EVE is like an RTS, except you only control one ship, and the gameplay is much slower.

    The ratings on this site mean nothing, it has no signifigance whatsoever.  Of course, all the GW fanbois come over to flame EVE and say how great GW is. 

     

    GW isn't even an MMO.

    People are free to have their opinions. Play whatever is fun, don't play it because of the ratings. If you enjoy EvE, that's reason enough to play it. If you like Guild Wars, play Guild Wars. If you enjoy both, play both.

    It's your time, it's your fun.

    first , im a gw fan boy and i think eve is a great game

    second i agree eve comunity is much better then gw

    the only thing i really like more in guildwars is that you have a human figure that walks around and in eve you are a ship , beside that , eve is a great online experience imo.

    loved the music , loved the tuturial , loved the comunity for the 14 days i was inside.
