And despite their great efford to make it look like a fast paced fighting game, it's still your polished basic point and click.
I played the Euro Cabal for about 3 weeks before they banned outside IP's, and I have to say it's really quite a fun game. It's fast paced, and just get's faster when you get higher level and better combat modes.
The combo system mixed with the modes really makes for some fun and fast paced combat. Fighting is also easily the most stylish I've seen in ANY MMORPG (by far).
Grinding is really alleviated by constant questing. I went from level 1-20 without even noticing.
Character creation is pretty basic, and you will see a couple clones, but stat/skill setting keeps thing's fairly interesting. Also, the 6 character classes are all very cool and stylish. There are no typical "tanker, damage dealer, healer, buffer" roles in Cabal. Every class is a capable fighter in their own way. For instance, the Blader class deals constant damage with flurries of quick melee attacks (very cool looking skills), while the Force Blader deals his own brand of damage, using a quick one handed sword in one hand, and neat magical effects with the other (including the ability to enchant his own sword with elements etc...). Every class is pretty much equal in terms of pure power, if used correctly... It's kind of hard to explain, but you'll see.
PvP is simple, flashy and fun. A stylish countdown kicks off PvP duels, and once it starts it's combo's and colorful attacks everywhere.
The world itself is very colorful and fun. The way they have it worked out isn't like your typical MMORPG with one big world, but instead you travel to different themed area's via warp gates. The few area's I saw during beta (it was limited then due to the beta) were very unique. You step through one warp gate, and you find yourself in a small desert oasis town, surrounded by scorpions and giant snakes. You step through another gate and find yourself in a Swamp-like zone, surrounded by giant trees and man eating frogs. Each "zone" has a kind of elemental association.
One neat feature is fun little quest dungeons. If you played Nostale, you have an idea. These usually give you a set amount of time to clear out, escape from, or clear other goals. Later on these dungeons may contain boss monsters.
Anyways, I think I've said enough about it for now. Really it is a pretty damn fun game, and I deffinatly see myself jumping right back into it, soon as the North American Open Beta starts. I honestly didn't expect to have as good a time as I did in Cabal~ Can't wait for OB!
