Yay Tito Ortiz!!!

No wonder they didn't want to put that fight on pay-per-veiw, Shamrock went down in the first round just like the last fight.

you mean Shamrock's plan of getting the snot beaten out of him and then pouncing once he is within an inch of his life didn't work?

Shamrock was good back in "the day" but today's fighters are much more rounded. They have to be good at striking, good on the ground and have good submission defence. Shamrock had good striking and good leg locks that's about it. He was great against the other oldschool fighters who were equal in skills but can't hang with the new breed of fighters, same goes for Rouce Gracie and Tank Abbot.

I think you still have to give Shamrock a lot of credit. He's taken a beating three times now that could kill a normal man.

EDIT: Also, did they wear gloves back in Shamrock's prime?

ahh the good ole days of UFC....elbows to the face until the guy's skull caved in, people wearing their big poofy jackets to fights and using their clothing to cover their opponents face...good times.

I agree that shamrock in his prime could have beaten Ortiz...but that is beside the point, he ISN'T in his prime and he was still running his mouth about the Ortiz fight...he got what was coming to him, even though I can't stand Tito Ortiz.

When someone disrespects and angers you to a certain point, you'll go after them, even if you know you don't have a chance. You may destroy their reputation and cause superficial wounds, but you know you can't win (unless you're a moron). I think a good example of this would be revolutions and terrorism.

Ortiz afterwards did his gravedigger routine, flipped off Ken and began walking away as Shamrock was trying to shake his hand. Ortiz stopped in his tracks and threw his hands up, turned around and hugged Shamrock as the crowd cheered. What a dramatic exit for Ken....

That fight blew, like I figured it would. The first two on were good though. That Canadian guy in the second one just manhandled his opponent.

Jason MacDonald. Pretty impressive win over Ed Herman and I'm actually interested to see him fight again.

And the Ortiz/Shamrock fight was what I expected it to be. Still can't get my $40 back from that PPV though.

Tito is not in his prime mentally, which is the only hurdle between him and being one of the top fighters again.
Shamrock has been done for a long time now, he was just trying to make some extra dough while he still had the aura of a badass. Thats over.
