Thanks for letting us know about it Doug. As much as I would like a new space MMO, two aspects of the game make it sound like its not for me.
1. Outcomes of battles are directly decided by your personal skills and less on RPG type skills . . ..
I really dislike this trend in MMO industry. I want a RPG, not persistent FPS.
2. All player built structures are conquerable.
Perhaps I am a bit too carebear, but this sounds like a really bad idea. Some structures definitely should be conquerable, but others shouldn't be. SOE's model in SWG of housing/player cities not being conqerable and players based subject to be destroyed (or conquered if you do it that way), seems like a much better solution.
All of that being said I wish you the best of luck in your new project.
Kurir and ShiloFields we already have some ideas on how to protect people that don't want to participate in PvP but still allows planets to be taken over they are operating on without those players having to worry about their structures being destroyed if they want to remain neutral to the conflict. Also we are planning on making the ground combat more RPG style controls and have the space controls be full direct control. I should probably fix the text on that feature as we changed that just before the website was launched.

Yeah I know it was a little premature but we wanted to get our ideas out there before anyone else tried to come out with them. We are mainly launching the site a little early just to get those out. Hopefully will have some screenshots for you to check out soon and have a backstory for you to read in the near future as it is almost completed but we don't want to release anything until we are happy with it.

Ideas are good, discussions like these are good, listening to what people (aka potential customers) want is good too... it would be a GREAT idea to have one of the major characters named Jimmyman... i mean, no1 would expect that... i mean, what would Jimmyman mean? Is it a Jimmy or is it a man? is it a name or a title? All games need a jimmyman, no?

We have plans to have the universe populated with NPCs, ruins, mining locations, planets to explore, and etc. So people that want to explore will be able to find useful things. Maybe even some new technology from a ruin that they can sell to the highest bidder. We have plans for a lot of things that aren't listed on the website yet but would need way to much room to explain all of the ideas we have. Plus our ideas are expanding all the time on what to have and how things will work while we work on the game engine and content. Also if you want send your ideas for an incredible exploration content component, or any other ideas you would like to see added, to newworlds@crimsonrealms.com and we will look over them. Can't guarentee to add them but we will consider all requests.

This game sounds massive. How do you plan on supporting the Battles in space and the Exploration and the possibilty of people trying to crash your game?

We already have plans to address this and the server side will be running a dynamic allocation server cluster that will adjust to load needs for each planet and system. Also we already have plans for detecting an attack on the server to make it crash due to overload and will kick that user off the server to prevent the overload.

On the side note, I second the motion to add exploration at least as it was in Earth and Beyond, maybe expand on it a bit too, make it much more important ex: when someone starts the game they have a very limited number of places to go to. Explorers can find new places, then start trade routes to those places for those who dont have access while taking a comission for each run. The traders, however, wont be totaly dependant on explorers, they can travel and explore new places, but they wont be as effective as natural explorers. This way exploring is tangible and valuable, while not restricting it exlusively to the explorer class.

Yeah I know it was a little premature but we wanted to get our ideas out there before anyone else tried to come out with them. We are mainly launching the site a little early just to get those out. Hopefully will have some screenshots for you to check out soon and have a backstory for you to read in the near future as it is almost completed but we don't want to release anything until we are happy with it.
