WHen did the gold get out of control?

I reactivated my account(70 month vet), met some OLD friends, got into the largest guild on Atlantic... My account was empty... EA doesnt know what happened?!?!?! oh well
But when did the gold get out of control. It is insane. One guy in the guild gave me 1mil like it was nothing... Great guys in the guild helping me out but it really is crazy!!!
It was not like this in 04... What gives?

I think its the spawns that drop tons of gold and stat scrolls. Well there are also alot of dupers out there as well. The economy has definately changed since weve played...lol
Wouldn't it have more to do with AoS? Surely the sudden introduction of high value artifacts and online traders ruined the economy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that pre-AoS there weren't that many high value items, other than say the orange phoenix suit and daily spawning rares.
I'd love to see how much my five hooded shroud of shadows are worth now.
