which game has the most realistic combat??

can anyone tell me which game has the most realistic combat .Not just point an click or auto attack.I think turn based might be better than auto attack atleast you have to log in some kind of attack which is at least doing something rather than just click

Realistic combat? As if if you got shot in the head you'll instantly die instead of just stagger a bit as if nothing happened and continue fighting?

I...do not know. If Gods & Heroes can deliver it looks to have a realistic-looking combat system. The day I can put my foe in a sleeper hold is a good day indeed.

Neocron hands down.  It has FPS combat, but it is mixed with RPG elements.

    "Kaneda! What...do you see?"

  • I would say Neocron may have the most realistic at this point in time.

I would say Conan. SWG used to have realistic combat moves till they added flashy seizure inducing particle effects which would be a better fit in a wizard game.

Conan isn't out yet, they just claim to have realistic combat.  Assuming it works well is kinda pointless.

DDO is pretty good...you actually have to swing your weapon, you can block with a shield which can be very effective with good timing, you can roll away from attack providing your armour isn't too heavy and you have the required skills.

Swinging a weapon while moving lowers your chance to hit unless you have the required skills, same with ranged combat too...I really like melee combat in DDO...it's just a tad too easy though.

As Tillamook mentioned, assuming Funcom delivers on the combat system, Age of Conan will easily be the best along those lines when it comes out.

I agree with IdesofMarch. Gods & Heroes combat looks extremely promising. The addition of sqauds to control sounds really nice too. A premade party at your disposal for when you just want to solo grind would be nice in many games. I look forward to giving this game a try.

I saw this thread, and well you are gonna laugh at me, but it's fine.  I thought instantly, "Bushido Blade Online" lol.  Come on that game was very realistic combat.  However that is why not too many people liked Bushido Blade :(.

    As for MMOs :

Non. But if AoC is what it looks like it's going to be, it's gonna be twitch based tactical and realistic combat

don't bother with an MMO.  it'd be worse then 10-19 warsong gulch with a group of lvl 12s V. a group of twinks.

in RL first fully hitting blow kills, or makes the person that got hit twitches/freezees/stun and then is killed.( welcome to weapon combat).  and even then in cases with rapiers in many cases both sides would end up dieing the first one to a killing blow, the second one to bleeding to death from wounds inflicted or from infections.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

It isn't out yet, but with the animation videos for Gods & Hero's: Rome Rising, that game will leave us all speechless.  Jumping onto your enemy's back and slicing them open or squishing your fallen enemy's head with a big mallet and seeing the after effects.  Guys, G&H will be something if they can actually pull it off.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

No one has mentioned the Combat physics in EQ2? Everquest 2's combat was the most realistic in my honest opinion.

  • I don't know why people want real Combat. RL fighting is something I try to avoid. I would say if it was true to life I would be lucky to catch the rabbit i am supposed to kill as a newbie. The aggro would be a lot farther, if some guy saw me hit his buddy he wouldn't just stand 50 feet away let alone 20 of his buddies. Also, death would be Permanent.

Games aren't supposed to be Real Life. So do we want realistic combat?
