What keeps you guys playing wow?

Personally Once I hit 60 it was boring. I didn't have the time for raiding or pvp. I quit and came back a few times but it just gets worse everytime. TBC doesn't look any better. Just more land to go to and more grinding for the new gear. WoW is just to empty, it needs more depth professions need to be done better. I am not bashing wow I am just saying  whats ther to do? whats the point of playing when you hit 60?

go ahead post your opinons, flame me w/e, just want to hear what you guys have to say.

Personally I can't wait for Vanguard Soh. That game is going to be the next best mmo imo.

For me, the point is that I am currently in the game with a new character and a friend who has never played an MMO before. So I'm having some fun with a friend, kind of remembering what it was like when I touched my first ever MMO. Other than that, no point realy. We both have out 60lvl chars but we are making new ones (we both like to explore game mechanics, and picking up another class is a very good way to do that) because... there is no point in continueing with the lvl60s.
Right now we are just waiting for a better MMO to launch. We both want to try AoC but because we are gamers, we cant just stop playing, so we play the only real alternative, WoW, but we play our way... no post lvl60 gaming.

End game raiding.  When I'm not in a raiding guild... I either level up another alt (I have 4 level 60's right now) or quit like I did last year to give Guild Wars, COV and DDO a try.

i restarted WOW early this year and am on my 3rd end game raiding guild (a more casual one, cause the 5 night a week, 5 hr raids were burning me out).  I'm also leveling yet another character so I'll prob have 5 level 60's to work on getting to 70 when BC comes out.

I have yet to find an MMORPG that doesn't run out of things to do at 60. BC of course adds more grind....what else would you want them to do?  (better PVP..ok, I'll agree with that 100%)

Turn the question around...what do you expect to do at level 60?  You can Pvp for honor, grind for faction (which I hate) accumulate cash, raid with end game guilds, level more characters...or wait till BC and the climb starts again.

Games are supposed to keep us busy and entertained...when they stop..we move on to other games.... which isn't a bad thing btw..

But I'm never quite sure what mythical goal we gamers expect to find at the top of the hill....   guess we need to add player housing to keep people busy...

I guess several things keep me going. My level 60 on my main server is in a raid guild. I find that both fun and exasperating. It's a huge time sink, sometimes; other times I love the challenge of helping this guild get through raid instance bosses they haven't managed to take down before now.

My 60 still has many things she could accomplish, and I work on them as the mood strikes me - rep, items, crafting, and sometimes just running around to places I haven't been before, or haven't been to in a long time.

I have several characters that I play, when the mood strikes. Occasionally I go to one of several other servers and play characters that I've created there. Having a lot of knowledge about the game I can share that with people that truly are new to the game, and need help.

BC wont change anything. 25 man raids will still be raids, it really doesnt matter if its 40 or 25 ....

I played since closed beta, first I didnt know anything about raids.
Was just lvling to 60 gone to all the 5-15 man instances which you
could do with pugs, equiped your char, do some PvP, lvl other chars and
equip em in the 5-15 dungeons with other professions to support my main
char. I really thought great game they will add more and harder 5-10
man dungeons to advance your charakter and add more for PvP and other
things as well but what happened ?? RAIDS RAIDS RAIDS, fuck off
seriously its such a BS. If you want raids go play EQ ...

You NEED to be in a big guild to do raids, you cant equip alt chars so
whats the point in making alts if you want to do PvP ? Yea you can go
with T0 equip to PvP but sure it wont be fun and even if you dont want
to do PvP you cant advance your charakter. You cant go always to raids
even if you registered to it cause there are always to many ppls
wanting in the raid then you have nothing to do and can wait again 1
week cause of BS raid timers.

I have less to do with raids seriously. Before I lvld alts equipped em
in the dungeons, did pvp and so on now with raids just log in for 2-3
hours and go off again hmmm yea boring. And like I said I cant equip my
alts with T2-T3 or something. Funny that Blizzard thinks its a time
sink, no its not if there wouldnt be raids I would probably lvl all
classes to 60 and equip em, with raids you cant do this.

This game just chosen the wrong path IMO and if you are wondering yes i canceled my account already few weeks ago ...

This should happening to the game that I would play it again but sure it wont.

    - Remove raids completly or keep em in for the ppls who love to raid but there shouldnt drop better loot.

    - Add in 5-10 man dungeons which are 3 times as hard as Scholo / Strath. & co. for epic items.

    - Improve professions so you can make real good items and for all lvl
ranges. Wtf is this shit that you can make for - example a robe for lvl
8 then at 30 earliest again or so ... ???  This is totally bs.

    - add in some new bgs

    - add in a whole new continent with an addon where the continent really is contested

    - player housing and guild halls

    - fun stuff to do I dont know what but its blizzard job to think about
it ... so far they didnt add anything new to the game, always just
guess what RAIDS and faction grind (I dont mind this if its good made
via quests and so but only to kill always the same mobs over and over
    and over again ?) /yawn

Yea Iam really pissed cause WoW in general is a great fun game but raids destroyed the game for me, raid is the devil :/

and last but not least sorry for my crappy english ^^

The game begins at 60. All the good instances you can do at 60 and the pvp is better at 60.

I cancel my account, and then renew it 3 weeks later. Then I level another character to 60 (only have 4 so far) on a new server, grind AV faction to 9999 past exalted, join a raiding guild, raid for a month or three, get bored and then cancel my account again.

I say that I won't buy BC, but I probably will. I'll keep repeating my cycle until something new comes along.

The ONLY reason would have to be 'friends'... MMOs have this sort of laid back pace, that allows people to talk casually while they are doing 'stuff'. The stuff by itself is completely boring and lacks any real challenge, although many might try and deny that fact... it's a trivial game really.

I have to compare it to UT. I had 8+ friends and we all chipped in for our own UT2004 server. We would hook up at night, play onslaught, dm, etc. Server was 30/month, so it was less than 4 bucks per month each. We would taunt, challenge, and play. Game involved a lot more skill than any mmo.

The end result, we didn't really socialize that much. There's a little talking between rounds, but the game was so skill-based, that most wouldn't just kind of 'chat'. Now a chat-room, is just completely boring since there is nothing to do at all. I think MMOs really fit in that niche in between these two extremes. It's slow enough where you can talk with your friends, but fast enough where you are not just sitting there chatting. That's why people keep playing wow, or any mmo for that reason.... imo

    I wouldn't hold your breath.

If WoW is too much of a grind for you, Vanguard will make you weep tears of pure wasted time.

I am not a real Battleground fan so I keep playing pretty much for the PvE side of the game... Healing people, getting good items and gears, raids, guild chat, etc.

Mainly guildies.  I've tried / played other mmo's and I've found WoW to have everything I enjoy in an MMO.

Most people who play this game are "casual gamers" and will stop playing at 60 because raiding isn't for casual gamers. Only the hardcore gamers will continue to paly who enjoy raiding for hourse on end. Now that kind of boggles me, why would you make an entier game almost soloable, but then at the max level you have to learn how to work together in huge groupes. While you play the game you should be learning how to raid as well. Or make the raids shorter to fit the casual gamers play time.

Raiding is not only for so called 'hardcore' gamers. I know of numerous casual raid guilds, including my previous guild on Sargeras, and the guild I am in now on Anvilmar. Given that you can do a dungeon like MC in bite size peices, it doesn't require hours on end. The instances like Scholo, Strat, LBRS/UBRS don't take all that long to do once you know what you're doing. The new instances in TBC will be even more geared towards casual raiders, but with choosable difficulty levels so the hardcore types will still get theirs as well. Casual raiders might take a bit longer to get to the same place, but it is entirely doable.

Granted, if you consider casual to mean playing an hour a night or something, then sure you aren't going to be raiding. But, really, if you can only play an hour a night, then MMOs in general are not really for you, not just raiding.

I have played since Beta, simple fact is the game is still fun, I raid on my main and have 4 other 60's which help change things up when I need a break.

I have played several other games (EVE, EQ, EQ2) and still mess with the now and then, a game is what you make of it, people celebrate new games and complain about the old ones, then you have a small scetion of fanboys who will rant about a game regardless.

    Play what you enjoy!!!

I would actually say the game ends at 60. Questing pretty much ends. Crafting pretty much ends. PvP becomes even more gear dependent.

I played WOW in beta and the several months after release. The first couple of months on a pvp server the game was pretty good. The pvp was great leveling up. Random ganking everywhere, both group and solo. Good camps and good fights pretty much the entire way up the grind.

Raiding CX and astranaar, and all the cap cities. You guys remember the raids on the capitals pre DKs, it was a ton of fun. Sure it crashed the server, but it was pretty awesome.

At 60, everything you do is instanced...boring.

I played for a bit after the honor grind, dks and BGs came in, but it wasnt the same. It just wasnt that much fun anymore. I did MC a few times and beat ony once. (top raids at the time i quit).

I rolled a new toon about a year after i quit to play with a friend. I barely made it to 50 before getting bored again. World PvP was pretty much gone. It was safe to run missions in and around Gaz again, STV was even playable...it was just boring and I knew what 60 was like. Being an donkey chasing those carrots isnt fun, its work.

I think the better question is... what keeps me from playing WoW.

    And the answer is everything.
