DDO is the best MMO in my opinion. The lack of content dosent bother me becasue I dont have 20-40 hours to play like I used to with other games. Which is a good thing, because for awhile they were taking over my life. Honestly I havent even capped yet and ive been playing since beta.

I know its not mega popular but most great things never really are. It's almost a good thing because the playerbase is older and more mature instead of a bunch of douches in WoW and that like. Grouping tools kick ass so it dosent take forever to put one together if you know what you are doing. Travelling around is quick and dosent take forever. Yet it is nice to hear they are adding some more explorable places in the next mod, sometimes its cool just to screw around. Overall though I like the instaced thing because like I said I dont have time to geek out like I use too. When you form a party you have to run 5 min max to get where they are.

Icing on the cake for me is the D&D feel, yeah yeah its not REAL D&D but I stopped playing that a decade ago so its close enough to me. The ruleset is still a huge influence on the game so it leads to some interesting stuff. Planning goes beyond positioning and spamming buttons, you actually have to be on your toes and devolping real strategies. Most importantly...no wasting hours on snoozefest grinding. Some bitch about grinding quests but for me between completing all quests my level on the hardest difficulty (as often as posssible doing elite right off the bat becasue someone else has it already) and looking for rare drops I have had no problem leveling up to 10 with a dozen quests untouched in my log.

DDO was and is, a game that was completely messed up well before release. Turbine didn't listen to beta testers and went with a game model where you do the same quest, over and over and over and over again. The monsters were static spawns, the traps were static spawns, nothing changed in missions except that the player gets progressively less experience for doing the quest each and every time. The reason why it was set-up this way, was so players could master quests.

That is fine when you have options to choose from, but DDO- really didn't have options to choose from, no crafting, only a few quests worth mentioning. Basically you did the same few quests over and over again.

I did play DDO since early testing and even a little after release. The game basically doesn't come close to where it could of been.

Can you/someone tell the difference in doing a quest over and over and over agian, and doing a kill 10 of this quest, twice pr lvl?

Im glad turbine holds on to this game model, because then the quests are...well quests! good storyline, fun objectives and alot of the times, good team work to get through it. ALL games i have played, which follow the other quest model has boring fedex, or kill quests.. i wouldnt even call that quests, but small missons... pathetic.

I would rather do Choas Eidolon (ac2 quest) 40 times, contra doing one kill Goblins and bring me three goblins ears. next level you kill orcs to find their feet, talk about low life quests!

I wish AC2 was still alive and i would shown you Atlans foundery quest (one among many) you would be in awe.. yes it took +- three hours to complete, but you felt you achieved something. And for me thats what its all about...having fun on quests. image

In my opinion the game isnt half bad, the problem is when you can buy other games, like Guild Wars or say the old Diablo/DiabloII for example that gives the same/more content of neverending instanced dungeons and no monthy fee...

Nope, I'm not an agent of anybody.  I was really looking forward to DDO.  I played alpha, beta, and a little post-release.

Turbine did not listen to the testers at all.  The one real selling point of DDO was that it was D&D but Turbine made it less and less D&D with every single patch throughout testing ignoring many of the testers (including me) saying it was a bad idea.  Some changes from pen-and-paper D&D were needed but the unecessary changes just kept rolling in to the point where it almost seemed like knowledge of D&D rules hampered more than helped.

If it had stayed close to D&D, I probably would have stuck with it but, as it is, I've been waiting for Neverwinter Nights 2 for a D&D computer game and play other MMOs instead.

    Active: D&D Online (alpha,beta,&unlimited)

Retired: Anarchy Online, Archlord (beta), Auto Assault (beta), CoH/CoV, Dark Age of Camelot, Dungeon Runners, Elder Scrolls Online, Everquest, EVE, Guild Wars, Lord of the Rings Online (beta, live), Pathfinder Online (beta), Rift (beta, live), Secret World (beta, live), Star Wars Old Republic, Vanguard (beta), Warhammer (beta, live), World of Warcraft

If you are upset with some of the Vanguard nerds replies, go flame their lousy game on their forum and rate it a "1". The Vanguard fanbois aren't even going to have their game launch, DDO is 100 times more popular then that crappy game. Heck I got a Vanguard  beta and didn't even bother loading the game, rofl.

If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)

    I have noticed a theme:

"Well getting to max level and rerolling is ok cause thats what you do in WoW" is NOT a good argument. The fact that there is no endgame content is a HUGE negative of WoW, so you are just saying that something that is wrong with one game is also wrong with DDO

A lot of people here are talking nice about AC2... sure the game LOOKED great, but a pyramid scheme guild system, NO vendors, 3 ugly and disingenuous races, and combat that blew goats is nothing to remenisce over, that game gave me a LITERAL headache when i played it...

Turbine is a bad company, every bit as bad as SOE... LOTR will suck balls, I cried when i heard who was deving it...

May I ask though, how long have you played for? I am going to guess less then or about a month? I say that because I felt the same way...until I maxed a toon in 14 days, and realized thats it. there is NOTHING else to do but run the game again with a diff toon.

BTW, Turbine likes to promise new this and that, improved X and exciting new X, but they often fail to deliver.

    Don't hold your breath. AC2?

DDO will die. The no regen health, mana, rest shrines? Static content, brutal boredome of repeating cintent over and over?

I said in another post "its like they want you to read an Archie comic over and over and try to laugh at the same jokes every time."

I have been playing for just under 2 months now and not bored yet. In terms of restarting out the game with a different toon, this was no different from when I was playing WoW, got to 60, start again.

Whilst I also respect your opinion on DDO, I can never understand why people who don't like the game feel the need to come into the forums of the game they don't or no longer play and continually feel they need to warn people that it is crap or rubbish. (Be that DDO or any other game).

I have played EQ2, WoW and Eve but no longer go into message boards about these games and warn people that it may be crap. What I like about a game, others may detest and vice versa.

About repeating content, a quest in WoW or EQ2 can have you killing 20 spiders at lvl 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 etc, just because the spider can be a different colour, in a different place and have more hitpoints does not mean it is not repeated.

I don't max toons in 14 days so perhaps that is why the game is not for you and you need something that can offer more and that is fine and there is nothing wrong with that, move along to a game that can accomodate your needs.

I can't understand this need for people who don't like something to try and get others to not like it. As I said earlier, I don't like cheese but don't stand at the cheese counter telling people the reasons why I don't like it, try to prevent them buying it or slagging off the company that makes it. If you met someone in the store like that, well, you'd think they were weird, wouldn't you?

In terms of the rest shrine system, I love it, as a caster it brings a tactical edge to the game, saves me wasting mana and can be an achievement in a hard dungeon to reach the shrine, a sort of mini goal within the main dungeon goal.

As gamers as a community we are compelled to post our opinions of a given game.  If we feel a game is bad and doesn’t hold up to what a company promised then it is our RESPOSIBILITY to warn other gamers out there that might be considering this game. Its called word of mouth.  If we don’t feel we got our moneys worth then we post:

This game is a POS and is going down faster than a lead bottomed boat.  Don’t waste time or money on it

BTW this isn’t cheese, and if you don’t like to see negative posts don’t read the forums here go to turdbines forums.  THEY DONT ALLOW NEGITIVE POSTS.

I am so glad you found my post entertaining.  I guess if you buy a car that never runs like you were promised, and you are constantly having to take it back to the shop to have it worked on you would just keep it all to yourself and tell no one. You wouldn’t tell your friends to reconsider buying the same kind of car because you have one and it’s a POS.   What if you go to see a movie and it turns out to be total crap?  You don’t warn your friends and coworkers about it?  You would have to be a POS yourself to think like that.  Entertained?

Go to some forum and rant about a bad car, or movie? No

    Nice comparison!

I think everybody that get ripped by a bad game have a right, and well even MUST tell his comunity that he think he wasted money on a bad game... even if it's a forum or a group it's still a comunity, and if we dont like something we should say "it sucks!!!" instead of sucking it up.

Yes please warn me about games YOU didnt find fun to play. It would spare me the agony to try out the FREE trial! You make it sound like, we as a mmo community have a responsibility to save other people from trying out "bad" games. what a load of BS, but funny BS nevertheless.

Why do you think people do reviews of products?

    Tell my friends? Yes

Go to some forum and rant about a bad car, or movie? No

    Nice comparison!

You can quietly take it if you like but I don’t.

I think everybody that get ripped by a bad game have a right, and well even MUST tell his comunity that he think he wasted money on a bad game... even if it's a forum or a group it's still a comunity, and if we dont like something we should say "it sucks!!!" instead of sucking it up.

    I think this can reversed....

I think that everybody who loves this original game DDO has the right, and MUST tell his community that he spent his money well on such a great game... even if it's a forum or a group it's still a community, and if we love something we should say "It Rocks" especially all the free updates and modules!

Oh i didnt mean the game was bad by any mean with my post, and i agree entirely with you, if you love a game you should tell your community that you like it, i was just refering that we should share experiences with our community and not shut up about games we like/hate, like the guy i answered too seemed to imply.

There is a difference in sharing your opinon, and just spilling out some idiotic garbage about a game. If you come here and tell me, you didnt like the game..
to much of this and to little of that..Fine, but dont come and tell me that I wont like a game because you didnt.

And i certainly dont feel a responsibility to warn this community when I played a game i didnt like. Infact, maybe
many other players will find their liking in that game , and the DDO rant, which you can see everywhere in this community
is a perfect example. rant, garbage posts, and just plain teen anger.

Thats why I found it funny when a guy came here and posted that I had a responsiblily, and it was a must to warn others about games I didnt like. I dont see the logic it that when it is all subjective opinions, but if you guys have the
formula to veiw a game objectively, and the ability to tell, which games I/we dont like then be my guest and help me.

There is NO difference between sharing your opinion and spilling out some idiotic garbage about a game.  It’s all about perspective.  How we view things.  My idea of idiotic garbage might seem perfectly logical to you.  A good example of this is your post.

You say it’s ok to post that you don’t like a game, but you are on here bichen about people doing just that. garbage bla bla rant bla bla  bla bla don’t come on here and say this bla bla don’t come on here and tell me that bla bla bla Can you say hypocrite?

Ha guess what you don’t want to feel responsible, then don’t.  No one is going to make you.  You are obviously not mature enough to handle it.
