I think Nintendo Wii will do quite well. I kinda am thinking of buying one just to try out the controls and play with my family. Altho the initial game library of Wii tends to be kinda small and less star studded than that of PS3. I think PS3 will come up on top of the heap in terms of sales with Wii a bit behind and Xbox 360 not far off.
I am not all that impressed with PS3 especially for the price. Right now it appears HD-DVD is winning the video war and $600 for a game console is way too expensive. Plus I don't feel Sony's reputation is the same as it once was. Xbox 360 is probably a better choice.
Wii on the other hand IMO is more innovative with their controllers plus it's actually more affordable. They are going to release more units to the US than PS3 will initially. If I had to choose which to pre-order, it would probably be Wii. Although I won't pick up any game console until at least the spring.
Well the PS3 isn't out here before christmass but being a sony product as well as costing as much as it does and the attitude sony are taking with their blueray format all are all good enough reasons not to touch it for me.
The WII looks like a fun console, and being Nintendo the games that come out for it will be well made and very playable. That and the price make it something I'd at least consider if I really wanted a console.

Agreed. But I feel that PS3 would get the upperhand due to its better games library. Xbox 360 probably has the better hardware for its price. Wii on the other hand has the best hardware to price handsdown however it has less than stellar/interesting games on it's line up.
Well one thing I've learned from all these years as a hardcore gamer. Never buy a console when it first comes out. I generally wait at LEAST half a year before buying them in order for them to work out some bugs that might pop up.
I like the ps3 and will get one in late spring or after. The ps3 will be good because they use HD//bluray graphics which look one generation ahead of xbox 360 graphics (at the moment) if you look at gran turismo HD. Also the line up of games look far more interesting and varied. I like 360 because it uses good graphics and good games.
I cannot stand the wii though. Many of the games look really poor. They are all sub party games like family guy and spongebob -.- Plus i'm sick and tired of mario, sonic and zelda. They are kinda lame now. Dont get me wrong they are pretty fun for a while bute i prefer more dramatic games like MGS4 halo 3 HL2 act of war, BF2142. Not some corny platformer.
I would consider a WII, but not a playstation 3. I'm not that into console gaming anymore. it just became too expensive. in europe, I have to pay a 700$ for a Playstation 3, and another whooping 60$ for a new game that I will beat in 2 or 3 days max. its not worth the money. thats why I only buy games I can play online, it takes much longer to get bored of it.
You probably shouldnt even try to get a reserve.... the PS3, is going to be a complete upset. Im calling it. BLueray disks are SOOOO expensive compared to the standard expense for a video game =( I would suggest migrating from console games to PC. That is where the innovation will be. Try WoW.... that is where its at =P

Ohmegad! I agree with Gameloading on something .
And on whoever said the initial game library for the Wii is small... 19 games is almost as many as the 360 has out, and the 360 has been out for a year...
I have a 360 atm and I think a shiny, stylish, affordable Wii will look very nice next to it and they will get along well. Never was a Sony fan and I don't intend to start now. Most of the stellar PS3 titles will be on the 360 anyway (GTA, Assassins Creed) and HD-DVD is looking nice. Of course this is my opinion and I am sure people disagree with me. I cannot see PS3 winning the console war at all sorry guys it just isn't gonna happen. Looking forward to playing zelda on the wii
Well i generally stick with computer, especially now days that consolos try to mimic them so much. But Wii looks to bring some thing new to the table(really sounds like what a consolo should in my mind)
xbox 360 and ps3 will offer me a dulled down experience of using a computer its alright if you dont really want to trouble of a computer or costs but dont seem to be the friendly group gaming system consolo's should be...

Wii it's a next step in the gaming industries and btw...
250$ Vs 600$ 50$ Vs 80$ (games)
Come on! I better buy a new PC instead of a PS3
Try $220 for the console and $40 for the games. Even better.
And how can you get tired of a controller thats motion sensing? The possibilities there are nearly endless. Not only that, but I'm really looking forward to playing all the old NES, SNES, and N64 games on my Wii. Emulators just don't do these games justice
You may want to check with Ebay, last I heard, they are banning accounts that are trying to sell ps3's without actually having the product... This was added to their terms just recently.
Yes, you will be paying more for the PS3 but you are also getting a far more powerful machine. The PS3 not only has a significantly better processor and graphics capabilities, but it also has a 20gb or 60gb hard drive, HDMI, and BluRay. BluRay alone sells for $1000. You are instead getting it for $600 as part of the game system.
The Wii is definitely going to be innovative and Nintendo has put their focus on games and fun rather than graphics and power. The virtual console, the ability to download old Nintendo, Genesis, Super Nintendo, N64, and Turbo Graphix 16 games is amazing. The system itself is rather skimpy on memory, only 512mb, but for the types of downloads and games the system has available it should not be a problem.

The problem with that though is that BluRay hasn't had an impact yet, and it's uncertain whether it will.
I just can't see spending so much money on a console right now when I can buy a suitable PC that will run most current games for only a little more cash. I've been a console gamer since I was a wee little lad but unless you have money to burn, keeping up with the newest systems and games is getting to be too expensive. Of course, I'll probably end up with all three current-gen consoles, but I think I'm even going to wait for the Wii to drop in price and a larger library of titles to develop.
I don't see that HD in a game console is a big deal. PC's graphics blow all consoles away when it comes to graphics. Let's see if you get a 1080p monitor you get 1920x1080 resolution (wildescreen). However most LCD TVs only use 720p at 1360x768 resolution (widescreen). If you don't own a LCD TV, you better get one if you want to use the HD capability of the PS3 and you better have some serious money for the 1080p.
The PC monitor still has better resolution than the best LCD TV and the games still should be more graphically intensive. That means you souldn't buy a game for a console solely based on graphics. How about the patches and mods you can buy for PC games. You can't do that with a console.

I bought my Samsung 24 inch Widescreen LCD monitor for about $900 last year and it was on sale. They're probably a bit cheaper now tho. It has HDMI capability and I can't wait to own a PS3 to use its HDMI capability. A true 1080p HD monitor is waaayyy too expensive right now just for gaming... I think they go for around $1500-2000 for a decent one. Definitely not cheap at all. Difference between 720p and 1080p is noticeable tho but meehh noway I'm ponying up $2K just for gaming.
