SOE use to been numberone, two years ago and now they are the 4th largest US based MMO company and wisely Sony has throw them a bone to allow them to make titles for Sony consoles.

I was pointing out the facts, but feel free to spin that into whatever you'd like.

No, they are not wrong.  In Sony’s org chart SOE is closer to Spiderman 3 then to the PSP or PS3.

You are correct!  SOE parent is Sony Pictures Entertainment  . I do not know why , its just how it is.

Phew - well thank goodness you showed up and warned us - and here was me intending to actually play it before coming to a descision image

p.s. - Does "descision" look right to you ? - looks like it is spelt wrong to me image

It can be possible to judge if a game will suit your tastes before it is actuelly released. Looking at the promised features and what the devs say their 'vision' for the game is and you'll know if it will even come close to something you'd enjoy. I know for example that the forced to team attitude the devs for vanguard first took before they backpeddled a little, their attitude to timesinks and the class/level/loot system were enough that I wouldn't enjoy Vanguard. I'm sure it will attract a decent number of players though .... although not enough for SoE to not try revamping the game over and over to attract a different playerbase so for those players I hope SoE doesn't get it's fingers any further into the pie.

Good for them I've never had any problems with SoE and I'm not a big fan of sci-fi MMO's so SWG ongoings couldn't mean less to me.

If it was me as a private company (Sigil) spending millions making a game with no money coming in atm. I'd welcome any company willing to come in and split the bills with me. Especially a company with the incredible server stability SoE has proved to have. Thats just less thing to worry about.

SoE whether you like them or not has more titles with a certain degree of success under their belt then any other company out there.

I personally like the fact SoE will aid in the development. It gives the makers/developers/artists etc. more time and $$$ to make the best game possible.

its a obvious typo, soe isn't "co-producing" vanguard they are "co-publishing" it. they are referring to the initial announcement that sigil and soe have made this deal, when the ex SWG/ soe-haters threw a tantrum. and in that context i know for a 100% fact this is a typo.

now if they were referring to a recent quote or interview that would be a different story.

    Frankly, I don't care if they co-produce or co-publish.

As far as I'm concerned If a game as an SOE tag on it in anyway or any relationship to them, I'm not going to buy it.  Regardless of the franchise.  In any other business if a company treated you the way SOE treated it's customers, those customers would never come near them again.

    Voting with my wallet etc

Don't assume that I have not played it :)  It's decision.

If it was a typo then MMORPG.com would offer a correction , which they have not.

Go look up NCsoft (and also look at NCsoft korea, instead of just US). one title of NCsoft has more players then all of SOE's games together.

I did look at the numbers. To say that Auto Assault has more subscribers then all of SOE's MMOs is ridiculous. The only games that reach your claim are Lineage and Lineage 2, and that's because of the numbers they do in the east. EQ has a higher number then all of NCSoft's titles outside Lineage and Lineage 2, and EQ2 is right on the same level as CoH/CoV.

Ok then what you need to produce is number of subs for EQ that exclude Europe and Asia as well as the numbers for NCSoft titles that do the same.  Till you can produce that everyone here is just talking about ghosts and sprites in the air.  You all talk like you know the numbers.  No one here knows the numbers except the people who run the games and they are scared to say numbers to stock markets.

Nice try, but if you read the small print the main chart page does not remove the numbers for subs from cross regional games.  And if you even want to throw in those number why would any idiot throw out the top titles of NCSoft.  You still can not produce numbers just for the US.

Edit:  They do try to balance for Cafe Subs.

And not once did I say anything about just in the US. I argued the claim that any NCSoft title has more subscribers then all SOE games combined. If you want to argue that Auto Assault has more subscribers then EQ+EQ2+SWG+MxO+Planetside then go ahead.

That’s always been true.  Lineage had over a million subscribers back in 2000 when EQ was just getting out of the gate.

Of course, just as with WoW most of those accounts are in China which skews the meaningfulness of the figures because the North American market, and more recently the European market is an order of magnitude more profitable on a per subscription basis.  SoE’s 600K subscribers bring in as much money as all the WoW and lineage subscribers in China combined.
