This reminds me of AO spam. AO, for its time, was ok. It had tons of features, but also problems.
These days, they spam various "free" "bonus" "extra" offers all over the place. But the game is in hibernation.
Once such cheap gimmicks start apearing, you know that there's nothing left in store. Pre-order items and similar are different, although SOE made a few mistakes in that area as well.
But despite everything, there's nothing left in store for SWG. They've given away everything they could, the last and truly final version of this is the impending release of SWG:C.
But SOE simply doesn't have anything to offer right now. EQ/EQ2/PlanetSide/MxO/SWG are all old titles based on old concepts. They all lack the modern apeal. EQ2 probably stands out a bit more, but unfortunately, EQ2 is the direct competition to WoW, and as such a losing card.
Vanguard will be the first of SOE's new offerings. Unfortunately, it's once again going after WoW market. What the other 3-4 "mythical" tltes in development are is anybodys guess. The comic MMO apparently faces competition not only from CoV/CoH, but also from some third, same typed game (the details elude me right now).
SOE still has quite some power. But their next title will determine how the future will look for them. Can they turn around their business practices? They aren't alone in the sector anymore, nor a top dog.
Translation:This game is SO boring to Level in as you've found out in the trial, here's somthing that will help you play the game!!! NOW IT'S SORT-OF TOLLERABLE!!!! WE PROMISE!!!
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
Did you also notice that they are now giving ROTW away?
Ok, how desperate are they... They are giving away the core game, JTL, and ROTW, plus this XP gimmick. All some schmuck has to do is actually pay $14.99 for an actual subscription.
If the desperation in Austin were a fart, it'd be a WMD.
They are giving away what I paid $120 for at the time. If that doesn't tell you how badly they are failing to attract anyone to play this game, I don't know what does.

I'm thinking more they've made the money back on the expansions and probably a decent profit off them already. If they weren't reducing the costs of the expansion then people would be complaining that they were milking people and that the game is too expensive to get into.

Agree on both counts...Obriak, move to the states, there are millions awaiting you (I still loves ya, though).

I hate to do it but I've got to side with Obraik. I mean sure, you paid $120 for those items individually over a couple years. Here we are a couple years later and it's software.... video game software to be specific. It's just going to go down in value.
Think of the five best games you've played ever. Average what you paid for them and thier values two to three years after that.
Personally though, I'd say anything less than SOE paying me to "play" SWG:NGE is a ripoff.

$29.99 Value? The Total or Starter Kit or whatever it's called (with all the expansions) is going for $19.99. Plus, aren't they worried about what this will do to their sales of Complete? Or are they just worried about getting the sub number as high as they can before they have to give their next report?
<--- what SOE's report will look like, or what SOE will look like giving such a report

They might as well not release "complete". There will be more copies of NWN2 returned for defective CD's than that POS will sell.

This is a rhetorical question, right?

There's free love on the Freelove Freeway.

Apparently no one.
Hence the desperation for subs.
