Get a recipe dropped from a flaming warble, add 2 parts mitheral silver 1 part dragon puke wiggle your ass and crap out a dragon chest plate that adds +10 to your warble resist but lowers your zingadoo resist while slightly increasing your one handed mace speed while riding west on thursdays. ITS SO DAMN REALISTIC.
Linear, linear, linear, I'm sure I wont be able to leave this area until I level up to a certain level, then I can move to my next tiny spot where I level up some more so that I can go further with each five levels I earn. Why not just tie a bib around my throat so I can at least throttle myself with it. Let me go where ever I damn well please.
Housing will come at a later date (see patch 12.564.89.762).
Now lets go questing. Get quest from npc A, kill 4 angry bunnies, deliver to npc B. But the fun does'nt end there, oh no indeed fellow adventurers, npc B needs you to deliver a box to npc C who needs you to fill the box with 12 really angry bunny butts to be deliver to npc A. Then you get expierence. If any of you ever played sports such as golf you know that your gaining expierence while you play NOT at the clubhouse eating your meal, which of course is payed for by the loser.
After all this time I'm playing UO on a free server, Its the second oldest mmorpg and its still the best. PVP with looting, fast movement, custom housing, decent crafting, skill based, an excellent working economy, great comunity. How the hell can this old timer have it all, and all of the new crap is just that, crap.
Oh call me cynical but I'll bet ya dollars to doughnuts that if you have three brain cells, and fits where you repeatedly bang you head against your keyboard you'll do just fine in this game.

I think we can conclude that WAR is unlike to break the mould; but I don't think that is going to be a bad thing. Both DAoC and WOW have a lot going for them, and a considerable fan base (in DAoC players who have been playing for five years, and in WOW sheer numbers).
Obviously we are going to be disappointed that our favourite race (Skaven, Undead, Vamps, Brettonia) won't be in a the start; but realistically Mythic was never going to get all races in at the beginning.
Personally, I'm dissapointed that there is only going to be two "realms"; having three realms in DAoC I feel a major interest factor as often the realm that is winning will have to fight on two fronts, and hence get knocked off the top of the hill etc.
Also the lack of crafting I find puzzling, although if was implemented like they did it in DAoC, it is probably a welcome relief from masochismic button mashing.
On the plus side, the arts coming along a bit and as long as we keep shouting: "It's too like WOW" there a good chance that the colour scheme won't give us headaches. The intro vid is very impressive - if only we could get in-game graphics like that, sigh.
And there is Witch elves <yum>. Now all we need is: /poledance and the game's perfect

I must say, this is a good text. It not only nails WAR but many mmorpgs out there today. And you people who say that this ISN'T true, well you haven't said anything about why it's not! WAR is just another game in the same style as everything else, nothing is new! war IS a grinding game, just like wow and eq2, and if you havn't grown tired of it, then good for you, then I don't have to group whith you when i play!

So i can only say one thing to you all; "Why the hell wait for this crap when you can wait for darkfall?!" ... no wait, stick to this game! Then i don't have to deal whith you again!

Oh I've seen tons of trailers for all kinds of games and ya know what? It wont even slightly resemble gameplay, not even a hint of the trailer will look like the game they never do. I mean hell, I could make an epic trailer but the game I could make would be just stick men, but the trailer would make you salivate. But dont kill yourself just chalk it up to expierence and the next yime you see some fantastic trailer just say, cha right I wish.

That statement is going to be false in the near future. There is only so much graphics can get to. Until a point where they will be realistic. (In game) So saying a trailer will never be what the game looks like is not entirely true. BTW That's why Nintendo said "Hey lets focus on gameplay and having fun. And not graphics". (Per-say)

Im gonna have to agree with the original poster here. When I see the website and while reading all the info I get the feeling its just trying to copy wow in alot of ways. I hate item based games. I hate target/push a button combat. I hate no looting(its your right if you kill him). The whole instance battlegrounds thing is just lame. In a war you would not be matched up with people around your strength and have equal the people on each size. It all comes down to boring grind for items that you will either get from pvp rewards or raids on npcs. Nothing new here.

Okay.. so I actually wasted my time reading this stupid thread.. But in the end.. I think it was well worth the entertainment

Plain and simple, Who cares? Did you know, that WoW can be entertaining and fun? Your expectations are too high. 50 dollars for a game, and 15 dollars a month isnt much. Just pay it up, play the game for the entertainment. If you arent entertained, move on? wtf is the point of a post like this?

I know nothing about WAR. But Im going to try it. For one reason: entertainment .

Exactly what i was thinking, if they play way better games, why do they even come here to complain... i m glad all those griefers who only like games with corpse loot wont come to WAR... it's kind of refreshing to even think they dont like WAR because of it.

And you say that you can't complain on a game that isn't in beta, well, first of all, devs havn't come up whith ANYTHING new, as far as i've red and i've red most of it. Just new maps, new mobs, new lore and new graffics. And that's about the only difference from wow, sorry guys.
You can't defend something whithout arguments, and i think this thread proves it, noone has ay arguments for why the original post is wrong.

And so, if we can't complain on a game that isn't in beta, then why the hell are you sitting here wanking of to a game that isn't in beta, and has nothing to come whith?!

It sounds like you're describing WOW right here hahaha. Except the housing part.

I have to say it looks frightengly similar to WOW. But that could just be the graphical part....... I for heavens sake hope it's only the graphical part. We really don't need another WOW, one is enough already lol
