Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

I know what I want.

But is it even offered in an mmorpg? I'll explain:

If anyone has heard of RYL or RYL(pote), chances are you have heard it not only bites -- but the US one is gone, both are true.  However, there are a couple of things in this game I would like to keep seeing and playing in others.  One being the combat system.  I can't get enough of pulling the mobs in and slicing and dicing them all at the same time.  Not having to worry about targeting one specific mob, since I'm hitting all in swing range.  Another more important part of the game is the way you learn new spells and skills.  I am so sick and tired of the talent trees to pick from. They limit you drastically.  In RYL: as you level you are not only automatically assigned attribute points depending on class, you are allowed to put more into anything you want.  So a hunter/archer class can load up on the int vs agility if wanted. Then learn, from 'race' not 'class only' books, spells/talents requiring a certain amount of int.  Things like this simply are not possible if forced to using the outdated talent tree system.

Can anyone tell me of any game that has at least the latter?

Also, I am dumping WoW! I am thinking of either EQ or EQ2? Are these seperate games?

Want to dump the classic skill tree system? theres plenty of them out there. The best of them in my opinion is Anarchy Online, you have 100% free choice in what skills and attributes you invest in

Advanced Combat system in which your weapon hits everything in its path? Only one I am aware of is Age of Conan, which isnt out yet. It will also incidently not have the usual skill tree.

Also, while EQ 1 and 2 are seperate games, both are like WOW in a number of respects, or rather, WOW is like them. If you dont like Warcraft because of the skill systems, you probably wont like Everquest either.

Thx for the information. AO is one I was actually just looking at on their site.  How is the combat system in relation to what I mentioned above?

The usual autocombat, nothing stellar. There is however plenty to do midfight, as long as you stay away from the soldier and enforcer professions, although just bashing/blasting everything in sight does have appeal at times. If you want to keep things really interesting, try a Meta-Physicist.
