Free basic accounts= alt-itis for griefing and other purposes. They probably don't even destroy unused accounts. The active population is around 250k though I think. I wouldn't take 900k seriously at all.

Acctually i believe they are payed accounts since the free one doesnt give you MUCH at all and last time i played it didnt even take you off the starter isle yes even 250k is much more then evercrap 2 im not much sure about evercrap 1 since evercrap 1 had more of a population on mmogchart as of 2006

Second Life as far as I can see offers nothing other than the chance to make money from fools.

Every single game I've played has had it's own "doomsayers" they're usually the forum equivalent of in game griefers though a number of them do it to advertise other games in a particular game forum. You're right that it's sad and pathetic but I've come to suspect some have a more sinister reason, that of advertising. This person is doing the same thing, slamming one game to advertise another. Most game forum rules ban players from doing this, even where it's not bannable it's a low class cheap shot. Some of these people have something to gain in doing this, I've seen advertisers used by games to increase their own population. In the interest of all games these people should be removed whenever found since it does not serve to community to have this kind of cheap cheesy underhanded style of advertising.
It's one thing to say you don't like a game, personally I don't do this because it's usually the people in a particular game that turn me away from a game rather than the game itself. It's quite another to do so just to advertise another game, it's unprofessional and reflects poorly (in my mind) on the game being advertised.
