It's similar to Guild Wars.  You can meet up with players in towns, but once you go out to battle it is just your 6 people.

I think what warrants its monthly fee + MMO title is that players can have houses, and, well that's about it. Very similar to GW from what it looks like, but I'm actually looking forward to it. Never liked GW, but I loved PSO and this looks cool.

This thread was very helpful.  I don't mind a fee, but I really dislike instancing. I don't consider games that rely heavily on it like GW or DDO to even be MMOs.

You guys just saved me $60 plus another round of MMO dissappointment.

I wouldn't hate it too bad ShiloFields as Sega has years of experience with Phantasy Star Online since it's Dreamcast Debut. If you have a 360 there will be a demo soon.

I didn't mean to criticism the game.  I am sure it a great game.  I guess what I was trying to convey is not the type of game I am interested in.  I like the virtual world/sand box type of games.

I haven't really looked into the battle system in this game, but it seems to be more MMO style than PSO was.  Just throwing that out there.

I don't think so, Combat seems to be very similiar to PSO, with some extra features added.

The combat style actually seems really original. From what I have read you have to do more than just click on something to attack it. I read that when using a ranged weapon you switch into FPS mode to aim and attack. To me that sounds exciting becasue clicking and pushing a few number keys to attack the saem mobs over and over gets old fast.
