Pre-order VSoH ??

StellosStellos Member UncommonPosts: 1,491
I'm torn on pre-ordering VSoH.  I've been following the game for a couple months now and I'm very pleased with everything it claims to offer.  How do you guys feel about pre-ordering VSoH?  I wouldn't order the guild edition or whatever, I was looking at the cheaper one.  Any suggestions to help me decide?

All depends on if you know you're going to play the game to make it worth the price of admission. I guess how much money you have to burn plays into things too. image

For me, if I get into beta and enjoy what I'm playing, then I'll go with the bigger package since it comes with three months and all of the extra trinkets, making it a pretty good deal if I plan on making this my MMO of choice. If I don't get into beta, I may wait a few weeks after release to get some unbiased and quality thoughts on the game before I make a decision. But eh, I'm an indecisive sorta guy so my plans are always subject to change.

well in the old days when companies only planned for a limited number and had shitty distruction then pre order was a good idea.

When SWG came out unless you pre ordered you would have waited more then 1 month to get a copy.

However, apart from very small teams that claim to do very limited releases then its no point really pre ordering.

I noticed companies are now much more willing to print excess copies and let them shelf a bit if needed and if the game is a smash hit they print new copies asap.I never saw a shortage of WoW despite selling millions of copies.

However, also consider that many companies also try to get ppl to pre order with bonuses. Its often worth looking at this if considering the pre oder.If you really like the sound of the game and the pre order offers some intresting incentive bonus then its worth it.

Definitely going to pre-order the collectors edition. They used my idea about letting pre-orderers in a few days early so that's reason enough for me. Plus, I've been waiting for this game about 3 years now so the collectors edition is a given.

Im beginning to think the collectors pack doesnt has 3 months subscription the more i read the description. It says -

"A three month subscription to Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Station Players™ - an array of premium features that give incredible access to characters and guilds by merging the game world with the World Wide Web."

Im thinking that is to the "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Station Players™" the online web stats thingo like in EQ2 not the actual game subcription. I could be wrong however but ive got the feeling thats what it really is. I'll be still getting it though lol

You are right to be in doubt. SOE's easily missunderstandable paragraphs have led to a lot of moneysinking over the years... I learned not to trust them...

You are correct in thinking that it's a 3 month subscription to "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Station Players™"

    and not the game itself.

I think it's a mistake to pre-order any game when you will have an opportunity to participate in an open beta first. It's not like it's going to be hard to find a copy of this one on the shelf.

That said, the collector's edition has some art from Keith Parkinson, and whether Vanguard is worth playing or not, nothing will change the fact that Keith Parkinson was a fantastic fantasy artist. So if you are into fantasy art, it may be worth getting the collectors edition for that reason alone.

On a much less positive note, the collector's edition has no less than 4 things that give you an in game advantage. So despite Sigil's earlier stance on no in game items for money, the hand of SOE is already evident and you can effectively buy in game items if you pay extra for the collector's edition. So if you have a gold buying mentality to gaming. the collector's editon is for you!

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Aww cmon man. The things they give you with the collectors edition are nothing near buying gold for rl money. They were things fans of the game suggested and they used them. I made a thread a year ago (which is now gone sadly so I can't show you) where I suggested the Keith Parkison art work and getting in 3 days earlier for buying the collectors edition and they ended up using them. SOE has nothing to do with it, the fans suggested everything.

Yeah that's kinda how I see it as well.  If I get a chance to play first and like it then i'd consider it.
