I know from the past that the other times $OE has offered a free trial, they offered up an extremely out of date version of the launchpad as the download and made people update for hours and hours. People that want to try out the game want to try it NOW, not after hours of waiting for patch upon patch to be installed. This idiotic move makes many who would try the game decided to not try it, which defeats the purpose of even offering a free trial.
So, I downloaded the trial and waited to see how long my cable connection would take to update.....
4.5 HOURS!!!!!!
LOL. WoW. I see $OE is still run by monkeys. If it wasn't so funny, it would be sad.

You still have to download the data at some point, whether it's in the initial download or through Launchpad.

Most of it's waste too, the client is full of stuff that is no longer in the game or was never put into the game. Two whole planets even.
How else are the modders able to make the old UI work? That's right, because it's still THERE.

4.5 hours of DVD quality video?
35 hours of high quality xvid video?
200 hours of game quality video?
370 hours of highest quality mp3 audio?
1500+ hours of game quality mp3 audio?
There is, at this time, NOTHING that would warrant 22 Gb.
I just hope that this is unpacked development version. If not, then this will be a completely borked client that will have incredible stability (and/or) performance issues.

When finished, Brad has said it will be around 24 Gigs in the MMORPG Vanguard Forums. Only a small portion of that is the client, a VAST majority is Art, Textures & Support, so the Client Stability isn't really an issue. It's the largest & most detailed Virtual World in History... well, until the next big thing of course. From what's been posted in the MMORPG forums, the DL takes abour 4 hours for the first 16 Gigs, and 5 hours for the last 6 Gigs. I doubt it will be a Digital Download, and won't be released on CD.
