MMORPG.COM News: Sigil Teases Community

Sigil has finally unveiled the name of their next-generation MMORPG that is in development.  It appears it will be named "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes".  They have setup a teaser page that is a Flash movie with scrolling text.  At this end of this text the number "562528500361" is displayed.  At this point we are all clueless.

    Also if your familiar with Aradune that was Brads old eq character.  Nice little reference of moving his character from one game to another.

    I agree its a date for something more than likely the day for the official opening of VG website and our first views of this mmorpg.  You have to admit one thing beyond all else, Brad and SGO know exactly how to leave us wanting more, just like with EQ pre release.  Kudos to them for staying true to having a rich back story as well.

    Could someone post the text that was there, or at least a summary? It's gone now, and the number has changed to "756110555893". There's no other content - clicking the number gives you a sigil logo, clicking the log gives you the number and so on.

    Sorry - my mistake. The new number is indeed not a flash, just the number (which is a link to the stone image page).

    I never did see the flash, but I see the new number:

    and if you click on it I see what looks like a sigil "logo" carved in stone (like a Celtic Rune).image

    Anyone think it might be a code of sometype. Like the numbers stand for letters and such.

    Humm...not good at that kind of stuff.  But it's something to look into.

    Like if you type in the letters after the link it will open the main page to get something cool.

    What is known so far:

    3/9/2004:

    fact:  A cryptic story of Aradune's arrival in the new game-world is posted.  It is in a picture or flash format, with a fancy gold font, and no pictures.. just text.  It mentions dwarves and elves.  He enters the world near some kind of temple, standing on dirt and grass, etc.

    3/10/2004:

    unsure:  The number 562528500361 is posted at the end of (another) picture/flash story?  I missed this.

    3/11/2004:

    unsure:  The number 756110555893 is posted, and that is the only thing you get when you go to the website.  Clicking on it brings up the Sigil logo, and vice versa.  I missed this.

    3/12/2004:

    fact:  On the website is a message in a fantasy language, in picture format.  There are about 8-9 short verses.  Clicking on it translates it to English, in picture format.  Clicking on it again yields the number 402515010745 in picture format.

    Now, does anyone here have a huge Internet Explorer cache set to "'never' check for updates" and can search for everything on vanguardsagaofheroes.com, who also loaded the flash?  I *REALLY* want a copy of this now, so I can look at it at my leisure.  Also, if you are 100% sure of something I was "unsure" about, please reply to this message so I can modify it to facts.  I'm trying to organize and document this, in case it becomes important.  Looking forward to Vanguard (don't like the name)!

    I got the impression the first number appeared at the end of the flash animation, not at a later date, so the 9-10 entries may be just one?

    In case you're really interested, you might set up some program to snag the site every 12-24 hours or so? Save some trouble...

    Another poem is up at http://vanguardsagaofheroes.com/ with a new number as well 000101111333. I don't know but this poem seems to be about dwarves, but i might just be reading a lil too much into it.

    There talking about a wall, a wall to keep out a river of water. Either thats metaphorical, say, there building up there minds, little by little, gathered from the phrase "stone by stone" and that the water is just some outside thought or force. Then again it could mean exactly what it says, there building a wall to keep out a river of water....But they also say at the end, "river of ale". For those who don't know what ale is, ale is a beer, used in the medieval gothic days. And I agree with you, I think that from everything that it says there, these are dwarves, no human would talk on and on about rocks.

    Actually, ale is not just a medieval type of beer. 

    The two largest categories of beer are lagers and ales, and it has to do with the types of yeast and temperature used in fermentation.  There are tons of ales produced today.

    No idea about the numbers though- my first reaction leaned towards a musical code, but the presence of "0" in the last number threw that off.

    Nevermind, there's 3's and even if I deleted those off it still wasn't enough 1's or 0's to be considered binary because the minimum is 8 digits=1 ASCII
