Old EU player thinking of returning but on the US servers

OK to put the record straight I did play on the US servers when the game first came out then shifted to the EU once my friends finally realised it was a decent game and started to play. I quit the game entirely back in March when my friends left but after trying WoW I want to return but I'm a tad confused and if I'm honest I've forgotten tons !
I don't want to run mulitple accounts, so this probably means a classic server. What I do want advice on is what class to play. I did love my stealth classes but mostly my minstrel, hunter or ranger, I was always dire at playing assassins although I must admit I did laugh a lot as I died horribly after missing PA time and time again
What I'd like is some advice, what classes to try out on classic, what levels well etc. I haven't really made my mind up what realm to play yet as I loved all three!
Any advice on classes, realm, server etc greatly appreciated. I won't be a hardcore player, girlfriend won't permit it! but I do like spending time playing and developing a character a few nights a week and hopefully one day get high enough to get back into NF or make a tit of myself in thidranki

As for what class? That depends. A Vamp, Necro, Animist, or Enchanter would probably be the easiest and fastest.
Your stealth classes still level the same as they did in march - pretty
slow. Although if you want the most fun and will spend a lot of
time in the BG, then perhaps a ranger would be your best bet.
