Having been a GM for about half of my life, and a rp for much longer than that, I have ammased over the years a large collectoin of Pen and Paper RPG books. Recently I haven't gamed as much as I did when I was younger, but after reading several discriptions of new and upcomming mmorpg worlds I have come to the conclusion that alot of my pen and paper campaign setting are far me interesting than those given to us by developers and I thought to myself, "Why not just make one of these existing universes into a mmorpg?"
Now I know I'm not the only pen and paper left on this forum. So pandp's I'm asking you to post your opinions on which pen and paper campaign setting would make the best mmorpg.
Personaly I say Earthdawn, but thats just me.

Well the conversion of WarHammer Fantasy Role Playing into Warhammer Online is underway. How about Call of Cthulhu!!!! Other options? Well since I detest Forgettable Realms, I would say either Greyhawk or Ravenloft would be nice. White Wolf's Vampire would be interesting too ( I never tried the PC game based on it though.)
Mind you there are so many pen and paper games that simply couldn't convert (like Mage: the Ascension, Ars Magica) or would not be broad enough in scope (Al-Qadim, Pendragon) that this is kind of a difficult question, really.
It's nice to see other Pen and Paper people on this board. I have been a DM/GM for over 23 years! Where is my cane!?....I have a funny story about this nickle... ZZZZZzzzzZZZZzzz....French Toast Pease!

I have mentioned this on a seperate thread,
but Legend of the 5 rings would make a fantastic, and unusual mmorpg. Catering for a niche that has no other offerings.
How about the excellent rpg, Blue Planet? Or even Spycraft?

as allready stated in other threads, i am a long time shadowrun fan, therefor i'd love to see a mmorpg with this setting. the diversity of roleplaying and background of this pen n paper game is just awesome and i would certainly play it, buy it and be addicted to it for years
also i think a cthulhu game could be really interesting - all depends on how a team is willing and able to develop such difficult world like lovecraft's.

Screw a game, a movie on the quailty of Lord of the Rings of the DragonLance story would be AWESOME!!!
I still believe the first 3 DragonLance novels are a much better story than Lord of the Rings. If you ahve ever read Lord of the Rings, it is not as exciting as the movie. There just isn't much detail during the battles, or the rest of the adventures. It is like Tolkienn was just giving us an outline to read, and use our imagination to fill in the rest. But DragonLance has some serious story value. I actualy shed tears hen Flint died... Ooops, now when they make it into a movie, I have ruined it for some of you.
I have to say I would love to see Ravenloft turned into a MMO. There are no real horror themed games out there and Ravenloft would satsify both the fantasy and horror fans
