Damn it I'm dumb.

I don't know why I got this computer. My dad got it for me because I don't have money to buy much of anything... I've only had this computer for a few months and it is already going slow. It is a Compaq Presario SR1923WM. Here are the specs:
  • Windows XP Media Center Edition OS
  • 448mb RAM
  • Intergrated Nvidia Geforce 6150LE Graphics card (uses shared memory)
  • 120GB Hard Drive
  • AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2.2ghz with 3DNow
Don't get me wrong, this computer can play games like Battlfield 1942, Unreal Tournament 2004, and Guild Wars just fine on highest settings. But I bought Battlefield 2 a few days ago and it runs really slow. I asked my dad if he will help me install more memory so I will have 1 gig and he said yeah... But I'm starting to realize that my computer sucks for most games that are coming out...

I'm such a dumbass. I don't know why I'm getting so upset about a freaking computer but I am. I never seem to do much of anything right. People treat me like shit all the time... Now I'm getting off topic and not making any sense. I wish I would've gotten a GAMING computer so I could play GAMES. But I'm a impatient retard and I wanted to get one that I thought would run games well at Walmart. I AM THE MOST FUCKING DUMB KID IN THE WORLD. Who the hell buys a computer at fucking Walmart? I'm stupid as hell. I hate this dumb crap. I would just work my ass off to get money but then again I don't even know why I like games. I suck at everything and computers don't bring me happiness, they are just addicting. I wish I was like most kids my age, I wish I weren't so addicted to freaking computers. Honestly, I try hard. No one fucking believes me. I don't even know what I'm thinking half the time. I'm always confused as hell and I have racing thoughts through my head.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me but I hate it...

Dont worry about if you got a bad computer, trial and error, you can get a new one in due time, jsut ask around here or on a computer forum for some good suggestions.

I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.

Ignore this guy. Never just buy a whole new computer. Just systematically upgrade parts 1 at a time as you can afford it and eventually you'll have a good gaming rig.

That depends. If the motherboard is too outdated, and for example uses AGP 8x(Which i suspect a bit, since it's a 6150LE GFX).. Good luck upgrading that pos. It would be like beating a new horse.
You're better off aiming for the stuff that will make it into the future.
I did it the stupid way - Brougth a PC for like 1000$, then spent another.. 1000$ upgrading it, i think. And i still want to spend around 500-1000$ more on it, before i can really be satisfied(New Mobo, new CPU, new Case. This will leave only 2GB ram and the soundcard(X-fi xtreme music).
Your best off buying a computer that satisfies your needs right away, instead of enterring the threadmill of upgrading.

It's one of those things we call a life lesson. No big deal as long as you learned something from it. And don't beat yourself up so much. It'll cheapen the thrill for the rest of us::::02::

im sorry to tell you , but that computer really sucs , i hope it was really cheap.

its much better to buy parts and build your own

and you dont need to buy the super new stuff to get a much better computer then that , for about the same price.

    for exemple a AMD 64 athelon 3000+ ( old )
gigabyte mobo 8x AGP nforge ( old )
    geforge 6600 ( old )

    120 giga drive is fine
    at least 1 GB ram

this machine runs way faster then yours , and i think it would be cheaper

places like wall mart , always sell that kind of crapy machines , the put a fast CPU , but all the rest sucs

starting with the OS , media center is a joke

geforce light edition ... the name says it all

    448 ram ... what a rip off

now about the computer game adict thing .. most of us if not all in this forum are computer geeks , so dont worry about that. play guildwars , its the best online game ever ... dont lissen to the gw is not a mmo nerds , guildwars is a great game , leanr all skills , leanr to join human groups , make your own groups , learn what makes a group powerfull ... GUILDWARS RULEZ ... ::::02::

Not just one, but two mistakes

Never buy a PC of any kind at walmart

Never buy a Compaq without modding the hardware.

Dell and Gateway are pretty much the only two PC companies (aside from the truly expensive ones like Alienware) that I would trust to give me a computer that will work well from day one and keep up the performance. The Dell XPS is probably the best value in modern gaming computer models right now, see if you can find a good deal there

Throw all your games in the bin, then you have no worries. no good graph card required for forumsimage
  • xpyrofuryxxpyrofuryx Member CommonPosts: 1,587

Hey man, I suggest building your own rig. I will help and post parts for cheap where you can get them. I have to go to school now, but when I get back I'll do this.

If you follow me you can get one kick ass computer for cheap. Not to mention its fun as hell.

Ok first off you need to get your RAM to at least 1 Gig if not a Gig and a half if you can afford it (if you stick with the onboard graphics I would really suggest the 1.5 Gig to stop the Gfx sapping your RAM). Second is a graphics card, though you can probably wait till the first DX10 cards start appearing. Other than that its not the best, but its nowhere near the worst I've seen people buy off the shelf.

There are allot of kids that dont own a computer and parents cant afford to get them one.  Buy games that will work on that computer and be thankful you even have one.

Then when you can afford it, get a better one.

Pfft. Where's the fun in that? If you're going toe cheap route, I'd suggest reading. Books can be as entertaining as computer games, and there aren't any people to annoy you.
