Hi everyone,
I bought Prophecies a while back and I must say firstly that I am having so much fun. It's good to know that my lifestyle now means I can't play as hardcore like I used to on WOW and having GW being free means I don't have pressure to feel like I have to play to get my money's worth.
I would like to comment how much this change has been good. I personally got fed up of the constant "grinding, grinding, grinding" nature of WOW and wish I could just come on and get into action and fun straight away. Compared with GW, everything takes so long to set-up and do on WOW. Sure, the WOW instances are fun, but I could tired of having to go there every week just to get a chance to get gear when I really wanted the PVP to be based around skill and not gear. Why is it that some classes are just "paper/scissors/rock?" Really, every class in the game should be able to beat each other with good skill and thought. Most warriors can't beat mages, yet mages can't beat warlocks. I felt the sting of it after constant faction grinding in the BGs. I got to the point of "It's not fun! It's a chore!" I liked the pve aspect of WOW but it's just too long to progress levels in my opinion.
In GW, it's nice to get into a group without restrictions. In WOW, many guilds require you to attend an instance this many X times which meant I simply couldn't do it. Now that the outside world requires my responsibility more than before, I like my weekends to be fun and GW has provided just that. I simply didn't want to be doing the same thing over and over again in WOW.
I really like how there are so many class combinations and the GW graphics make a nice change from the cartoony style graphics of WOW. I can't believe I was hooked on WOW and the amount of time I invested in the game. It's like a lethal poison and what suprised me most, looking back, was the fact that half the time I simply wasn't having fun. I was just there, doing something or wondering around. I have joined a nice guild and things for me are looking like a whole lotta fun.

But he enjoys it and that's good it's really good in GW that you don't have to play all the time choose your paying for your playing you can GW few times a week and still be good player
Mmmmmmmmmm ... probably. GW PvP is certainly better than WoW. And having all the skills makes PvP alot more enjoyable because you just have tons of options. However the PvE is nice for people like me who like to fool around in a safe environment and try stuff out.
I would say go for a PvP-only package and then maybe go for a PvE thing if you really want to. Me I am going to buy a normal nightfall PvE package.
Agreed. GW is definitely more casual friendly than WoW. My only issues with the game are:
A) The community sucks.
Due to A being true, I can never find a halfway decent group to finish the missions that can't be done with henchman.
C) No crafting skills/professions.

a) you can make a exemple and help to change that
b) Make your own groups
c) there is crafting weapons , and caracter setup skills/professions/atributes is so complex you could call it a sandbox

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
After trying WoW myself, I discovered that there is one thing that really seperates the two games and becomes the single defining diference.
Player interactivity.
Think about it. In WoW when you first start out, 90% of your time is going to be spent solo. And I'm talking well past level 20. Around level 40 you finally start to get into areas that all but require teamwork. Which means that after all that time of being alone now you have to figure out how to work in a team. That's not a very user friendly setup. I never made it that far, but I can imagine 10+ people trying to play solo but with some others to back them up. It doesn't really work very well (as I've seen much the same mentality in GW).
GW makes players want to group up before they hit level 10 in most cases (by time spent leveling up, this is actually about the same level in WoW). Since players need to learn to work together from such an early time in the game, they have the basic knowledge by the time they get to areas that NEED more than 6 players. This makes them better prepared for team oriented content like PvP.
One of the other things that this does is alows players to comunicate. This is amazingly important for multiplayer games. GW is boring as heck if all you do all day is play with the henchmen. Sure, sometimes you need a break from the massive soul-crushing stupidity that we sometimes come across, but that interaction is what makes the game fun in the first place. WoW basically has found a way to remove that aspect of the game. Sure, you *can* party up before level 2 in WoW, but there's no point to it. It reduces the experience you gain from each kill and all but removes the difficulty. And since no one really wants to party up the vast majority of players you meet in early game areas will A) Ignore your presance completely as that gets in the way of their single player experience, Will challenge you to a duel (I found that, on the server I played on, the people who wanted to duel were 10 levels either higher or lower than the person they challenged. I can't understand that), C) Will spam about how great their level 60 Only guild is and how they're looking for more players ("I'm gonna go to the newbie area to look for experienced players" is the dumbest logic ever), or D) Are already maxed out characters looking for Horde/Aliance that are raiding. If someone would ask a question, I'm fairly positive that across all the characters I played there was one time that a question was answered by someone other than me. And I waited most of the time until they asked the question a second time.
So, yeah, I concider WoW an MMO geared towards Single Player. Which is why it's so flaming BORING.
