I just realized that I really don't want classic servers anymore.
Yup.. the 21 day trial allowed me to go back and see how much they screwed up the game... how much I have lost and how much I truly miss the game.
But it got the longing off my back. I got to see my home and city again, fly my ships again. That was the methodone to my addiction... I don't NEED the game anymore.
I'm sure if all my friends decided to rebuild on classic servers, I would probably resub to hang out with them. Hell, I re-subbed WoW and CoH to hang there with them.. but my heart won't be in it. The burning for the game is gone.
Now don't think I don't loathe $OE and have lost the urge to post and bitch and remember the good times. But after seeing again, he devistation of the game I loved firsthand, I don't want to give $OE another dime. I'd be just as happy playing CoH with my friends, or WoW.

Glad to see you got it out of your system. I was thinking about doing the same but the thought of seeing all my pets in my datapad and not being able to call them kept me from doing it.

Unfortunately, they refused and continue to refuse to correct their mistakes, and each time they choose pride over what's right, they lose more people.
These "lost people" continue to follow the game, hoping that one day soon, the game they purchased and loved would be returned to them. And each time SOE chooses pride over what's right, the "lost people" stop caring a little bit more.
Eventually, all care becomes lost, mainly as protection from continued disappointment. We can only take so much.

To be honest, i could never go back after the NGE. I was so disgusted after it i didnt even care to get my money back like how they offered. I miss my ships like burning, i was an ace freelance piolit. I owned my own rebel base, and was a master pistoleer/smugler. The had promised smugling to go into space and the like with missions, etc and it just never happened. I had enough once the NGE hit and i cant bring myself to go back.

Well, this is interesting. Do you recommend this course of therapy to others? I have been thinking about doing this, but have not out of a "I don't want SOE to think that the core vets are coming back" kind of thing.
Do you think going back for the trial will help the rest of us get over it? I was kind of thinking of laying off until after the Christmas season in some kind of vain hope that if TCOA sales are poor, SOE might rethink their Classic Servers position. (Unlikely, but hope springs eternal...)

I got to fly around, which was really what I missed most.
But then I saw how BAD it is now. I had the classic display going... it
LOOKED like the game I loved, but it was lifeless and empty.
It's like $OE did a pretty good enbalming job, it looks so lifelike BUT IT IS STILL DEAD.

It will take you about 2 hours, not 21 days to be utterly appalled at the blasphemy SOE has wrought. Enough said. It will take longer to install patches than to finally give up.
Like Shayde though, it may be well worth it if you can finally turn the page.

Sorry azhrarn I meant that for pjskull not you. I feel your pain. I just "finally" cancelled my last account 2 weeks ago. On to CoV for me.
This last time with the free trial, may have been my last shot, but if pre NGE is ever an option, I would have no prorblem resubbing, mainly for CH. No game on the market offered that style of game play. WoW's Hunter class doesn't even come close.
For me it is either PreNGE severs, or the ducks, whichever comes 1st.
I can't even try this therapy.

Game locks up as soon as it tries to run.
Of course I just tried to get in to say hi to friends. I could care less about actually trying to play that POS.

Space is the only thing left, most cities are ghost towns.
No- THEY ARE NOT ALL OUT QUESTING...that's bullshit if they tell you that.
Restues, Eisley Cantina and very very few in Theed, Coronet and that is about it.
Player cites serve no purpose anymore and pretty much you can travel and get the feel of the hustle and bustle of deadness.
I think it's great at this point, SOE made thier bed now has to lay in it.

Played for a few days now and there are some positive aspects:
1.Targetting and combat seem vaguely like CU although it involves wasting a lot of time to get the setup playable, unbelievably there is still no way to lock auto attack unless you do it manually with each target
2.The ingame music is still there, at least that hasn't changed
3.Space is still the same, but then again I never played it.
4.Loot spots aren't camped so looting is a lot easier
That's about it for now, there must be a few other things that make the game interesting seeing as how they turned the game upside-down but without a proper population to team up with on the server it's pretty lame right now.There is a very low population on Bria and Radiant, haven't really tried anywhere else. So few people on these days apart from where Iskareot mentioned. For anyone from Bria who remembers <DN> it is a shame, in 4 days I haven't seen any guildchat whatsoever, judging by this I never even checked out Mos Nihil as this would be too depressing. After checking what was happening on the forums, I got a post back from a guildie saying he feared the guild was all but dead these days. For one of the most established PA's in the game, that is a crying shame.
I can't say the withdrawl symptoms are completely gone yet, but at least I know that if SWG cravings start again, I can simply pick up my guitar or xbox and find far more fulfilment elsewhere.
I resubbed right after the combat changes to allow simalarity to old pre cu combat and after finally getting that set up I had 2 or 3 old friends still there. I even went and did the dwb with them. I had fun for that few minutes and then cancelled my account. Why?
I could have done the dwb by myself! I am a level 90 elder Jedi. We spent the last 40 minutes of that play session still in the dwb at the end of the run with me naked and my crafter buddy trying to kill me in a duel as I lay prone (naked) on the floor of the dwb not firing back.
This is what we had to do to make the game fun! Still making our own content, allbeit, a lot less fun content because using anything in the game for content now is just useless as anything is soloable.
That right there ended my hunger pangs for the what I once used to enjoy. I have learned to sate my appetite on things that are far more healthy for me!!

I unsubbed the day NGE went live, and have not given SOE any money since.
And it would take a LOT to get me to ever give them any money again.

I have no desire to log into SWG.
A big Part of the SWG magic, for me at least, was not only what Pre-CU was, but also what it could eventually become. With all the creative talent of the original codebase log gone there's no hope of a Pre-CU SWG ever getting close to what it could have been. That's the biggest factor I have to come to terms with.
Still - even though I have no desire to log into the NGE, in the unlikely event that Pre-CU returned have to say I would still at least consider it, even today. I guess I haven't quite turned the corner yet.
