EQ, what could a new class be?

nomadiannomadian Member Posts: 3,490
I was just thinking, seems a while since they added a new class in EQ. In fact, isn't it something like they've only added 2 new classes since the start of the game?  So as an interesting thought, what do you think a new class could be in EQ?
Existing classes:
Warrior
Paladin
Shadowknight
Shaman
Druid
Cleric
Necromancer
Wizard
Monk
Beserker
Beastlord
Enchanter
Bard
Don't think I've missed any.

The common feeling(one that I share) is that EQ has too many classes as is. We started with so many that only adding a couple has made it a nightmare to balance. I think they have reached a pretty good balance, and I don't want to see that messed up again by adding another class to the mix.

Not that it would be impossible, I just think you would have to pharm out too many abilities from other classes to make a new one and that would further dilute the uniqueness of each class that has gotten pretty thin since they added bst's and zerks.

Hmm possibly but EQ has aged a fair bit and new kind of blood to the game in terms of new classes I wouldn't think would be that bad. I'm not sure I agree abilities need to be farmed out, I used to think this but surely with advancements of technology and that they can be more creative in terms of a new class or so.

EQ should make one last new class. A class without a class but instead with a self determined skill tree. Call it the Generalist.

Balance has always been a pipe dream in EQ.  The original classes were extremely unbalanced and to this day there is too much of a gap in power between most of the classes and a select few.  In other words, they might as well add a new class.

A new pure caster would be great.  Not a priest but a pure caster.

They really don't need any new class that I can see. They have all the bases pretty much covered. Just peaks and tweaks to the existing classes.

The changes I want to see are the addition of pets for all the classes, even if they are brutally low level pets, that can't tank anything, they are fun to have.

Gnollslayer pet makes a good Ranger pet to pal around with...

A new class for EQ?  In its present state?  Hmm, let me see.  Oh, I know, a new class called the "Loner".  Whenever the "Loner" is alone in a zone, he regens mana and hit points at an accelerated rate, thereby improving his solo experience.

Lol hey if the loner can solo like in wow im all for it. Id love to go back to eq, miss all the old zones but I dont have the time to group so id love to solo in eq.
