Someone already posted this in the GW forum but I wanted a more general opinion on things.
This is a link to an explanation:
http://www.guildwars.com/support/gamecontents/pvpeditions.phpNothing amazing they are just offering a version of the game that gives access to PvP only characters with all skill unlocks for that campaign, but you may not make PvE characters.
All in all I think it is a fair deal and is a good way to get people into the game quicker as the skills builds are really wherer the game is at.
How many people think this is a good idea?
Would this be a good idea in games that are of a more tradiational MMO type? For example WoW could do something like this with its battlegrounds, especially now that it has crosserver BGs.
Clearly some games like EQ2 would have trouble as there is no differentiation. Most likely a product paradigm like this would always be confined to match play.
Is there a decent way to offer both quick PvP action and PvE stuff for these other MMOs? GW's way is decent but its world model is very different too.
I think that WoW's arena PvP is goign to be very limited considering how much farming you would need to do to be a top team. And that seems like a shame.

Combine that with the fact the GW is a much richer game when you have al ot of skills and is fairly boring when you only have a hand full, this seems like a better way to engage peopel in the mechanics of the game while also increasing the PvP population and therefore increasing the playability of the PvP. Ie. no queues like used to happen in WoW.
However in a game like WoW I doubt people would stand for people being able to buy a PvP only account with all raid gear unlocked for PvP BGs. But I personally think it would be a good idea. I have no desire to farm some WoW raid instance, therefore I will never be PvP'ing in WoW ever again. If they offered something similar to this I might at least consider it. But I don't think it will ever happen. And I think any game that is heavily gear base like WoW will have a large portion of people who would never accept it.
