So when the new game comes out on the 7th or 8th...how will the game have changed...i quit playing about 2 years ago and I just had to take a break from WoW so looking to get back into a new game...
This is incredible now, I quit in may and returned in august... The game is so good now. The servers are well optimised the game is incredible fast. Theres so many players and parties. The new content is great as well
I keep hearing the collectors edition is coming out on the 7th or 8th...but I also saw a sign at wa-mart yesterday for FF XII coming out on the 30th...
Well, if he meant the collectors edition, that's just fancy packaging. Nothing new to gameplay as far as I know. And I am getting FFXII as fast as my grubby hands can knock it out of that kids hands in front of me in line
FFXII is completely independent of FFXI and the collectors edition has all 3 expansions on it with a new game code and 30 free days if you are starting a new character.
One of the things that you guys don't realize are most of the new lower level peple you see poping up are gilsellers. SE keeps banning thousands of accounts every couple months so they have to start over and level new characters up quickly. 1,400 accounts got banned about a week ago divide that by the 32 servers and you've got about 43 new accounts leveling jobs per server >.>
on fenrir there were quite a few back in august, bastok market lagged quite badly because of it. but now i mean real players not stupid gil sellers, i have only spotted one gil seller so far this month
Yeah, the market seems to be getting alot more reasonable on Leviathan as well. And although I am aware that gil sellers will be some of the low levels, I am trying to be optimistic that maybe more are just new people wanting to play a great game.
Originally posted by gumbi17 How can you tell if they are the gil sellers? Are they using bots to farm for them or what?
They will later on. The first generations of gilsellers just had random names, with jumbled letters that made no sesnse. Now while some still are they use the random name generator. They all level togeather in a party or alliance. Being level 50 with level 10 equipment, no rings, earrings back items etc either says "I'm a Gilsller" Or "I totally suck". (So you could generally tell who's a gilseller and who's not). They'll all either have the same Linkshell or they won't have a linkshell. They speak broken english. All professionaly owned (Meaning a company or organizion pays 100+ People to sit around playing FFXI for 12 hour shifts) Gilsellers. Most of the time ( There is no excpetion unless they're on a bought account) They'll all be Rank 1.
Now, I'm not saying every Rank 1 person, who's gear totally sucks, speaks broken english, and has a Random name is a Gilseller, But with few excpetion 9/10 they are.
Like this list here, I bet 28/31 people are gilsellers, How can I be sure? Well not to long ago 1,400 accounts got banned, So now theres a big rush of people leveling new jobs and Eldieme is where the first lvl cap is, Kjkj is a known Gilseller miner, the gruop in Onzozo are most likly lvling since they can't take on LoO at that level. 60+ Leveing in ToAU area's is superior for a few reasons (This gets kinda off topic no need to go into it), but gilsellers rarely have ToAU or they perfer to level in the older areaons' because they're competely empty.
I believe that come Nov. 8th there will be a lot of new people playing the game. I have 3 (possibly 4) friends who are all making an exodus from EQ2 to start playing FFXI to start a static group when the new game pack comes out. I imagine I'm not alone in that group of folks. Plus take into consideration that not too long ago the game and it's 3 expansions were released on the Xbox 360, so there could be a lot of new players from that as well.
To the original poster, I don't think they've changed the game all that much since it's original conception, other than class adjustments to make things more fair for everyone. It hasn't had any dramatic overhauls of the game like EQ2 has gone through, at least to my knowledge. The new pack will just have all 3 expansions, which gives you more storyline, 3 new advanced jobs, and more places to take your character.

sweat shops
Aye thats right, And its cheap. Now its not the kind of sweat shops where you have 8 Year old kids making Tenis shoes all day, But think of them like paid slaves. Food & Board is included (So they eat and sleep where they work), And they're paid dirt (To our standards) But to them dirt is a lot of money.
So instead of paying people in the States with all the workers rights boundires, (8 hour shifts, Minimum wage, overtime, etc.) They do it over in another country where they can do 12 hour shifts, and $2.00/week pay.
I never said you did, but it seemed like you were making generalizations for what makes a gil seller a gil seller, and stating that they spoke broken English as a marker seemed funny to me.
You may have just been saying that all these combined equal a gil seller, but a large number of them do have great items to help facilitate gil selling (since they have lots of money they can afford good items), so I thought you were just making a general list of possible gil seller characteristics.
I was just surprised since all your other criteria were unique behavioral traits for gil sellers and then there's this one trait that covers over half the FF XI population.
I apologize for the offensive tone of my post. I'll edit it for future viewers.
Not to stir up drama, since we are on the same page now and the miscommunication has ended, but here's a little article that disproves the theory that uneducated Asians are gold farmers.
Notice that the manager (who is hardly doing better than our friends underneath him) is a college graduate. Also, speaking broken English is standard for most foreigners who are learning English. Speaking a foreign language, especially in type, with native speakers will always come off as "broken" as you learn the modern linguistic style and oratorical use.
Not that I'm saying you're being a presumptuous ass or anything like that, Telaki. Just bringing up a counter-point to your statement.

Yeah, starting to see alot more people on Leviathan now as far as low levels
I'm still wondering what he meant by new game on the 7th or 8th.....?

I like to laugh, that's why I'm laughing, not because I am trying to ridicule Telaki.
