PSU DVD: Copy protection missing?

LiddokunLiddokun Member UncommonPosts: 1,665
According to people who already have the game posted in the official PSU forums that the game does not have any CD-key. However some people also mentioned that the only form of copy protection of the game is the DVD itself which acts as a key and you will need the DVD to be inserted in the drive to play the game online and offline. Personally I don't have the game yet so I can't confirm any of this. Discuss.

Interesting to say the least.  I hope this means there'll be a Digital Download soon :)

Okay finally got the game and got it installed on my laptop. I wanna write a short review here. The version that I have is the PC version. The game comes as a DVD-rom. The game runs at 1024 x 768 max resolution in a window. It does NOT support widescreen and does not support anti-aliasing, you can't even force AA from your hardware because the game disables it. Strangely, being a PC game it DOES NOT have mouse support, only keyboard and gamepad. The game plays very well on gamepad but keyboard is possible but kinda awkward. The PC version graphics is really crisp and nice. You can customize your keyboard binds/gamepad binds from the options menu. Currently the playsega billing site is down for maintenance or it crashed or something and you can't play the online version unless you have bought a guardian license for $9.95 / month. You get a free 15 day bonus so for your first month you get 45 days of play. The launch isn't exactly smooth ride which is normal for an online game I guess but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Strangely the PC version doesn't have any form of CD key and the DVD doesn't need to be in the drive in order for the game to play (I've tested it).

^Actually, max resolution is 1280x1024 and has the option for windowed or full screen (under options, before you go in game in that small flash screen you can select options and be able to change some of this settings, obviously you went straight for story mode or network and missed the "Options setting" right under network mode and official site, this is the only way to change graphic/game settings once in game you won't have access to this options.)

Yeah, there's no Anti-aliasing, no widescreen support and no mouse support, pretty much a straight port from PS2 with some PC features.... not even the essential PC features like AA or mouse support. As a PC MMO gamer, I can't stomach not having anti-aliasing which is a must option for today's PC games (reminds me of Advent Rising, another very crappy port which was such a flop).  I'll see how 360 version looks and maybe exchange PC for the 360 version if I can, if not there's 50 bucks down the drain and swear never to purchase a game such as this and wait for reviews..... /sigh

Yeah I finally figured out the full screen thing under options and was able to play full screen with my 24 inch LCD Widescreen monitor. The game looks good too even without native widescreen resolution.
