Washington University experiment: Boy, 14, controls Space Invader with mind.

AnagethAnageth Member Posts: 2,217

A 14 years old epileptic boy managed to play Space Invader using only its mind during a scientific experiment, conducted by senior researchers and engineers of Washington University in St. Louis.

This sort of stuff creeps me out. I'm sure at some point we'll discover that we all have forms of telekinesis, or other mental powers.

You need to read further, the control was established with the use of an electric grid designed to read surface brain waves.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Oh, did I sound like I meant he did it with nothing between his brain and the game? I did read that, I just meant that if we understand the ways in which the brain can control physical objects, we may advance to a stage where we could discover what other potential the brain has.l

I watched that video full screen. It looked like everytime the ship went across the screen the kids left hand was moving.image

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

It would seem likely, the same pathways the interface would moniter would also be responsible for muscular control.

Considering we (humans) only use 10% of our actual brain capacity, I am positive as time goes on we will discover how to unlock such "supernatural" phenomenon as telekinisis, telepathy, empathy, clairevoyance, and a whole lot more.

Someone's a Heroes fan, koodos.  That 10% bit is not entirely true btw. It's been a kind of misconception. That statistic talks about only a part of the brain.  We dont use our entire brain to think you know, so it's 10% of X percent more like.  (motor functions etc)

I like how you listed empathy as a phenomenon. I actually cracked a smile. Not to say I don't agree...it's just funny. I'm rambling, sorry.

By empathy he means like the guy from Heroes, who can use the superpowers of the people near him image

not to be confused with Empathy, the super power of the Democratic party.

Actually, I was thinking more of Counselor Troi in ST:TNG. An empath is a person who can sense the emotions of another person or the latent impressions left by strong emotions in a room/ on an article of clothing. But the Heroes thing works, too::::20::

    You mean Fiegned Empathy:

"I feel your pain, now go drop some cluster bombs on Serbia..."  Or "Rowanda?  Monica who is this Rowanda?  Maybe she could join the fun?"
