Initial release problems, typical MMO launch.

I was hopefully that PSU would actually launch without many problems. Well that sure wasn't the case. Last night the authentication servers were down almost all night. Then today many of us playing the PC version are finding that we continue to have problems with blank screens and lock-ups.

This morning I tried for an hour to get in and my screen would just go black and I couldn't cntl-alt-del out and just had to powerfail my system to get it back up. Without any change on my part suddenly once again I was able to get in after many, many attempts. Looks like Sonic Team's use of Gameprotect or something is causing these issues.

Just be aware if you are getting the PC version that you may have similar issues, they certainly appear at this point to be typical.

Other than that once you are in game so far things seem to be good. Well other than so far I have only seen three other people in game at this point.

I dont play it (cant stand anime) but my son has the PC version and has yet to be able to get the stupid program to run, black screen, error message that is all little squares. Their forums are full of PC players that are having problems.

If anyone has any ideas let me know as he is very disappointed at the moment.

Awww I hate that black screen deal. Sometimes if you let it sit for a few minutes it will eventually load up. Though SEGA's Sonic Team hasn't admitted it yet I am pretty sure that this is due to problem on their end with GameGuard.

Yesterday I had the black screen deal about 50% of the time when I tried to load the game. Today it seemed to be slow and sit at the black screen for a bit too but it eventually came up.

So far I have been lucky and other than that not had any error messages, but then again the reason that most likely is, is because the game seems to lock up your system when it goes to that black screen.

I have noticed that playing in Windowed mode seems to help. I don't think it is a graphics issue though as I have a fairly nice video card with upated drivers and such.

Pretty sure that box with the squares is a gameguard issue I have read that making a seperate windows user profile and running the game in there fixes that.

well its no surprise..its been like that with all PSO titles..heck, thats why there is a single player game added this time :P

The only problem is that GameGuard also checks the single player mode and has been causing issues too.

I can feel your pain. I have a bunch of money invested in PSU. $50 for the game, $50 180 day Guardian License, $40 for an XBox Controller for the game and $20 for a crappy strategy guide. So I have $160 invested so those first few days when things were not looking good I was pretty miffed.

It does look like the issues are getting resolved slowly but surely. Now if after a few weeks I still get the random black/blank screen lockups after loading either mode of PSU then I will be pretty hot to trott.

I wouldn't consider 1 day of login problems a bad launch.

If you ppl would bother to read the technical support forums you would find that ppl have solved all the problems in reguard to software issues.

1. Load up the DX-9 off the CD, somthing is different in it.

2. Make sure gamegaurd has full internet access through the firewall.

3. Make sure you have updated Video and mainboard drivers.

4. Make sure your system is clean of Viruses and Spyware.

5. Make sure any unnecessary background programs are turned off. For this task I point you to www.theeldergeek.com.

In short learn how to use your computer b4 spouting this garbage.

Well first off Mr. Know It All, I can't speak for everyone else but I did all of these things and it made no difference. I have done a lot of research on sites like Pso-World and the official forums and this by far was a common problem.

Wow, maybe you should be a little nicer and give people some credit, most of us here weren't born yesterday. I love the game, so I wasn't trying to diss it, only stating the facts.

Will I don't have as much time in IT as you Leasa, I have over 15 years and hold nearly a dozen certifications and I agree 100% with your reply to grndzro.

grndzro you know had you just mentioned the possible fixes without your smart ass remarks you know people might actually appreciate your help.

And also it hasn't just been 1 day of login problems for a lot of people. You aren't the only person that knows how to research problems. But just because there are possible fixes posted on the official forums doens't mean that people aren't still having legitimate problems.

Sry the tone of my response was completly uncalled for.

Neuromad, if everything is updated and your system is clean the only thing I can think of would be to do a soft reinstall of windows, called a repair. It installs all the default drivers for windows, and redoes the registry. Unfortunately you will need to DL all the MS updates. I also reccomend regular defrag for thoes who don't do it.

Leasa this might solve your windows prob as well.

Again I appologize for my post, it was written after hours of helping ppl with PC problems. And if you know PCs you know how frustrating helping the masses can be.

I would also like to say that I had a wonderful black screen that would lock up my system to the point that ctrl alt delete wouldn't work. I aslo had to powerfall my comp to get it working again, even then the stupid anti-hack program locked up my pc after loading. Took me 4 hours of working on my pc to get it running. I had to completely uninstall my firewall, (Its a bs bundle I got free from work), and do a complete spyware, adware, virus scan in safe mode before it would run at all. All this just for playing the silly single player part of the game too :P

Also, I understand how you feel, I work TS for an ISP.

try running it NOT using full screen...thats how i got mine to work...and btw it takes about 3mins for the game to load up...so ya

They patched gameguard today and now my son can play.

So I hope everyone else who had problems can now play.
