I'm a fan of Star Wars Galaxies as much as many of you. While I think it's great that many people are enjoying the NGE as it is, I loved the game as it was Pre-CU.
Imagine a Pre-CU rollback were to happen, even though the chances are very slim if at all - where'd you like them to roll back to?
Personally, I feel that the game was best after the inclusion and succesful execution of creature mounts. If I remember correctly, this was before the über doctor buffs that made everything soloable, player cities that cluttered the planet and ugly vehicles that rendered the beautiful creatures obselete, but (of course) after my favourite update - that of mountable creatures.

I just felt like making this thread for the sake of beautiful nostalgia. SWG was my first real MMORPG, and I've never been as happy behind my computer as I was after the inclusion of creature mounts.

The way I remember it, I liked the publish after the creature mount publish the most. It felt most complete, anyway.

Well SWG was my first MMO and I quickly fell in love with that play style and cant find anything that even comes close to that. Im not to sure what the current publish number was when I first logged in on 11 Nov of 05 I think it was around publish 9
To tell you the truth I would like to see it at publish before the CU. I have my opinions on the Jedi but I will keep that to my self.
I was not (and still not) a PVP player I was force sensitive but never wanted to go for the unlock that would make me lose the other professions I enjoyed and only to be a target for pvp.
If pre-CU servers were to happen - what publish would you like them to start at?

I can never remember the publish numbers but my favourite time was toward the end of the pre-cu era.
1.Area-cures introduced for dots made my life a lot easier
2.Resist buffs introduced, didn't always totally work but it did reduce the tick if it landed and they really helped in the dot-wars
3.Can't remember the exact nerf but def stackers were brought down a peg or two (was it a melee def stacking issue? I forget) leading to a little less imbalance since you could actually hit them.
There were too many jedi at that point but at least there was skill loss
I seem to remember bases being screwed at this point, as well as the whole combatant/specialforces carebear rubbish so apart from the GCW changes, this is my favourite point
Combat wise though, I'm all about the pre-CU.

I'd prefer the publish just before the CU. I can't recall that publish number either, but the Pre-CU game was at its most polished at that time. There were some nice UI enhancements in by that time, and server and client stability had markedly improved at that point as well.
The combat XP to FS XP ratio for the villiage system would need to be adjusted, but I think it would be the lesser of two evils as far as the Jedi system goes.

And as a CH, the damage modifiers the level system put in were a killer, the best pet being 10 levels below every PvP opponent, combined with all the bugs in getting Specials to work, made CH as gimpy in the CU as they'd ever been -- they never really recovered until that BS skills-grind that the devs put in instead of just fixing the existing Specials.

imho, that was when the game was the *best* as far as stability and working / viable professions are concerned.
im a big fan of eve onlines "nothing is 100 percent safe" and the whole consequense for actions feeling.
with that said, id love to see the area of group tefs and penalty loss for death and combat like wounds etc...
but i would also like to see all the profession specific updates even
the not-so working squadleader changes i was playing around with on tc
before the nge hit. as someone else said, the armor specialization and
many other additions of cu, but with the combat and grouping and
penalties that tied many things together... im just rambling now...
id be happy with cu. pre-cu... anything not nge. and i would start over
in a heartbeat. i don't know if i'd want to spend the extra cash on
server transfers just to come with alot of cash and limited amounts of
items... not to mention 8 toons on 4 accounts... wow. yeah, def start
over from scratch.

I'd prefer the same as what pretty much everyone else said...the last update beore the CU. That is when I was having the most fun in the game. Although I'd be willing to roll it back farther.
Of course, monkeys will fly out of my butt before any of this ever happens.
And then SOE would just break all of our hearts again by re-releasing the CU/NGE on the classic server eventually anyways.

BUT! I will add a caveat that I would like the area doctor heals of poisons and diseases that came much later added onto the Publish 8 code. This would also eliminate the other alpha classes 10x multiplier: CM Mind Poison/Disease. Well it would drop it to a 2x multiplier, I could deal with that.
