An idea to reinvigorate AC and bring back old players...

A new PvP server with no magic.  I know, I know, sounds like I'm taking out the best feature in the game...  the thousands of spells...  Well, IT SUCKS casting 80something spells before you can leave your mansion on Darktide.  I would say leave war magic in, but take out all buffs.  Rebalance the game and tweak the monsters...  It'd be awesome.  Also, they could take it the route of UO and RYL and many other games and start letting people create their own servers...

I don't know about letting people create their own servers...it would kinda splinter the population.

But I love the idea of PvP/E without magic...I would really look forward in trying that out (if it ever materializes).

I always thought AC would be perfectly balanced if the number of buffs you can cast at any one time are limited (a la "concentration" in DAoC).

Now *that* would be a really interesting dynamic. You have 1,000 buffs at your disposal, but can only use 15-20. That means you'll almost always be vulnerable to something.

No magic just means that archers dominate raw.

the problem with miracle cures to ac like this.

"ive got it...to fix ac all we need to do is revamp the monsters....and change magic"

ok...revamp how....change magic how....explain to me the affects both positive and negative this will have on every single aspect of the game from pve to pvp to casual play to npcs to storyline changes to dungeons.

All we need to do to end violence is to stop fighting..................now here is the situation...end all conflict in the world....GO!

NOT TO MENTION....ac's coding is so bass-ackward that things that are linked shouldnt be. Changing coding affecting magic meant that jumping somehow no longer worked. ACDM was released because there were so many issues with this they just filtered out a great poriton of the coding and pretty much released it as a new game. AC isnt going to be anything different than it is now, and I hate to say that....but that's just how it is.

I honestly don't see how this would bring back any old players at all.  You're taking out perhaps the -largest- aspect of the game.  I don't think you realize how much lore and gameplay is tied up in the magic system of the game.  It's basically like cutting the game in half and giving it to the players.

i'm comming back to the game regardless of whatever they do whenever I finally get my lazy self to apply for some jobs and get a credit card ha. Just turned 18 last monday and I have not had a job yet. I have money in a savings account but want to use that for college and such. Once I get money I'll be in the game.

    And take out magic?....no...don't.

I dont think there is anything needed to change in AC, just keep bringing in new areas, new monsters, new quests...I'll be happy.

Now that is a good idea! The very second I hear that is going to happened I'm going to be sprinting to the nearest computer to give Turbine my card number!

Seriously, EQ did it, it worked.
