For some unknown reason, Sega found it necisary to release the game in Europe a full month after the US, this is absolutely rediculous, and is this still needed in a time like this? Gaming has become big now, and it should be possible to release at the same time, or with a few days delay at max. but an entire month for what is basicly the exact same version? come now.

Or go play Cabal Online.
The japan release date was 1 october, thats hardly 3 months.
Also, in case you missed this information, Japan has its own servers, where US and EU have to SHARE the servers. the early release in japan has zero effect on US and EU regions, but the early US release DOES have an effect on the EU region.
For your information, the MOST amount of people wil join during the US release, which gives much more grouping options. not to mention I usually play at night, so I will play with US people most of the time. So that leaves me with the few people that bought the game a month after the US release.
For your last rather childish dictionary and spelling comment, sure thing. but only if you buy a dictionary in my language as well. next month, you type in dutch and don't let me see ONE single mistake mister.
PSU doesnt have pvp at all so level difference wont matter too much & people will always make new characters when they start a new mmorpg so it cant be that few people around in the starting areas.
(Or is the level-sharing limit insane as in FFXI?)
I wouldn't worry about it too much, really. You know how these things always are at launch. Lagginess, bugginess, working out all the kinks etc. etc. You just save yourself a lot of frustration And not *everyone* will be higher than you. Sure, there are the power gamers who will get the game and just go nuts, but I'd like to think the majority of people play the game for what it is :P People play at different paces, a month isn't enough for the world to pass you by. There's some games that have been out for -years- that you can still come in and find people to play with so don't sweat it ^^
Gaming? That's not gaming!
That's just people sat 'round in costumes drinking...

Im sorry I don't mean any disrespect, and believe me I know what you mean, I myself am from the UK.
But why not do what I'd find the logical thing and preorder/import the game from the US if you can't wait so long?
I did it that way through ebay .

It's really just about the first sentance in the post you made...
Please dont join the stereo typical "US is dumb, fat, stupid and doesn't deserve any respect" band wagon.
It really doesn't make me angry when i see poeple make jokes about my country, it makes me sad, and dissapointed.
And, i hope you're actually dutch, or i'll regret this haha.
Volgende keer kan je mensen misschien een beetje "liever" of terwijl minder hard aanpakken. Het zal je zeker veel goed doen, succes.

That had nothing to do with any kind of stereotype. What I meant was that its easy to say "quit your whining" when your in the US. He doesn't have to wait another month. he won't be a month behind everyone else.

Because of this:
"Well, the US official release date is now upon us and many of us are anxiously waiting for copies to arrive by post or for pre-orders to get to shops or whatever. If you manage to get hold of the game today despite the apparent delays and other stuff then you're a lucky sod and I hate you. But enjoy your Gurhalian life, everybody~
It turned out only American credit cards can be used to pay for subscribtions. In practice, this means European and Australian players that imported the American version got shafted, and will not be able to play online for a month, unless they manage to make a deal with contacts resident in the States."
http://www.psupedia.org/index.php?title=News#10.2F24.2F2006:_The_Battle_Begins_--_Though_no_payment_options_for_importers.21
SEGA will do everything in their powers to make europeans wait a month and to avoid importing.
This proves that SEGA is not intrested in fixing this problem. they won't allow people to purchase the game through the internet by making a download version of the game, and now they blocked all non-US payment systems and credit cards untill the European release.
Thank you Sega..
omg.. I didn't know that..
I'm an european player also.. so is it true that... *whining*

They chose to release it at a later date for you, sure you may not be caught up with some other players but that doesnt really screw you as you invested nothing into the production of this game.
And in end i would like to say...QQ this is the video game market, there are always delays/shifts/cancellations/downtimes etc....so yeah it sucks that you dont get to play for a month... but is it really that big of a deal, no.
What really sucks is that I live in the US and got the game, I played it for 2 days and deleted it. I like to play MMOs on my PC and not the 360 so I got the PC version, well all the controlls are setup on the keyboard! There is no mouse interaction at all in this game, so I had to set it up to play with a controller! Then I'm thinking, why the hell did I buy the PC version if I can't even use my mouse? I should've just got the 360 version because I'm using a controller anyway. Anyway..the game is too restricting in where you can go and what you can do and if you say Guild Wars isn't an MMO then either is PSU because it's all instances with places were people can group up.
My brother now has my account but I doubt he will play it long for the same reasons.
So maybe you're lucky that you have to wait a month, read some reviews and see what people are saying about the game. Who knows you might change your mind.
I sleep with a pillow under my gun.
Reviews?
according to IGN:
Press average: 9,0/10
Readers average (43 ratins) 9,0/10
sounds good to me.
The problem with you was that you expected the wrong thing. PSU is limited because PSU is not really an mmorpg. its a normal online game, and it should be played as one. its an excellent game, and I know what to expect.
I sleep with a pillow under my gun.
He's is paying it for me too.
Sega thinks that is better this than quit billing address protection ?
They are wrong. Mistake.
We Are Blind .. To The Worlds Within Us .. Waiting To Be Born
Not too much of a mistake. They still got your money and you are still playing. But I agree that it's not fair for them to alienate one segment of their game population from another. Perhaps they are having trouble setting up a European billing system? Just a thought, I don't really know. Thankfully, I got my fill of PSO on Dreamcast, so I'm not interested in this version anyway.
Its a product released by a company, the company owes you NOTHING as you have invested NOTHING into it, unless you preordered and then you shouldve done research first if this kind of thing is an issue to you.
The company can do WHATEVER they want with their product and they owe you NOTHING in return, and i'm sure you've agreed to contracts of those natures while signing up for the game.
I have been playing PSO for quite a few years. I have helped, along with thousands of other people, Sonic team to become what it is today.
Also, for your research comment, it was NEVER mentioned by Sonic Team that they would block european cards. "the BUY NOW!" only had "US ONLY" tag added shortly ago. people couldn't have researched it.
Do they owe it to us? No. but does that make it fair? Heck no. We pay the exact same amount of money (in fact, We are paying MORE money) as US citizens. yet we don't get the same treatment.
Maybe it is because of the localizations to the different languages. Game magazines rate it higher, if a game is well localised here.
The joke is: when you play PSU online with international players and have (in my case) german item-names. If the items named something like "supermegamaxifluxmodulatorblah" and it is called in my language completely differnt, aaand in the heat of the battle someone orders me per voice to use the supermegafartoolongname... get it?
Answer wouldbe something like: "WHAT THE HELL SHALL I USE, YOU BEKLOPPTER STRICHER?"
I hope, there is an option to switch language to english, while playing online.
